UC usually doesn't tell the weights of their Honshu swords because they usually are 2 lb heavier than they should be. The exception is the double edge Ninja sword I own, which is surprisingly good in handling. But this one I'd expect to have 4 - 5 lb.

Then I was wrong with the weight You were even one of the commenters on that thread! Well you know what they say, memory's the first thing to go. (rofl) (Especially in my case--but I attribute that to the bourbon. ;) )

Then I was wrong with the weight I think there are a few different iterations, also you might have confused it with the one handed version, which they call "single handed broad sword". This one is close to 4lbs I believe, at least the first version was. They lightened it and changed the grip and released it under the same name again...
It still is a hefty sword for the length, which they conceal by the low PoB. It is probably that heavy beacuse there is very little distal taper.
I do like the Honshu line, but I hate the TPU handles, they don't feel good to me and are pretty succeptible to wear and damage. The fit and finish is pretty good, they do great CNC work, almost no rippling on the blade and the lines are very straight.

Many Honshu swords seem to be overweight (the left hand messer and the single hand were reviewed so) and I don't like that they don't tell the weights of their swords, this makes me assume that they are overweight in general. I know there are exceptions, my double edge Ninja sword is one of them, the broadsword may be another I remember nddaves review and that I was tempted, but I didn't need another longsword. The TPU handles are less comfy than I did expect, but I use grip band anyway.

It'd definitely help if they published weights (and PoB). Their "grosse messer" certainly seems horribly heavy. Maybe, now that they're pushing this "Historic Line" that I see on BudK, they can be nudged into listing more stats.

They do seem to listen to the community sometimes, the 2nd version od the single handed broadsword has a woodcore leather wrapped handle, though it is lighter by ~100g, still heavy. I am really looking forward to seeing reviews for the new swords, hoping they got the weight down. I mean, yeah the very low PoB does make them wieldable, but still they feel off to me.

Thanks for the link, will watch in a few. I even half remember the thread. Clearly, my search-fu is weak, and I agree on the bourbon/memory link Thanks guys! When I get a chance I'll post updates, he's an hour away....so it may be a while.

Damn that's an oldie, my first video review! Not a bad sword overall a bit clunky for those with a more refined taste but was balanced well and durable. There's a part 2 where I swap out the synthetic grip for a wood core, it's the only thing I didn't really like about the sword.

I had that sword for a bit. I beat the life out of it to test it's limits, and it didn't flinch. Wiped the blade off, after downright abusing it, and it was good as new. A perfect trunk/motorcycle sword I'd say!
