I want to say that I'm working on some story idea's involving characters that use swords in modern times and I am thinking that there might be a small off chance that I might get into owning a sword (I'm still not sure yet) but I do want to ask when it comes to making swords of high quality is it usually better if swords are made from machinery because I do know many instances of hand made swords having quality control issues and blemishes that have occasionally worried me when I had interests in certain types of swords and sometimes I hear that swords made mostly from machinery can be made more pristine and higher in terms of quality with less blemishes and I want to ask to make sure if there are any types of pros and/or cons to the functionality of a hand made sword vs one made via machinery

it is more about the level of care and attention during the manufacture. Machines can make many of the steps more efficient, but the final grind to shape is still done by hand. The quality of the heat treat is most critical for the performance.
