I am looking at an 13th century Tachi that need polished. I would like to bring it back to full health by having it polished again. It is not really a rare or expensive piece but it is history and I would like to see it goes lasts another 500 years. Where could I send it and can some tell me the average costs of a full polish? I understand each piece is different, just trying to get my ducks in a row before I pull the trigger.

It depends on where you are what options are available. Usually it's about 50$ an inch iirc.

Would help to know where you are, so we could recommend local options first, if they're available.
I haven't kept up with togishi in years, though, so I gave no idea who's still out there.

Try at the Nihonto message board. They usually keep up with current togishi and are happy to pass along a recommendation. I believe the current price though is $100-200 per inch. You'll have to confirm that though.

i was thinking togishi also were around $100/inch not 50. 200 doesn't surprise me because I haven't looked in a long time.
