At around the 37 second mark you seem to be placing your weak hand on the back of the sword in a move I am not familiar with; can you provide more details about this form.

At around the 37 second mark you seem to be placing your weak hand on the back of the sword in a move I am not familiar with; can you provide more details about this form. Its nothing too specific, just placing my hand closer to the point of balance in able to redirect the blade a bit more quickly. Typically you'd see the hand on the mune in a binding context or in some iai forms where they use it to direct a thrust. I just enjoy adding it to my cutting sessions occasionally and this odachi is a good candidate as it has a very forward balance. I did a video focusing on this called Manipulating the Mune (just messing around and practicing). Thank you for asking
