Has anyone had any recent interactions with Vladimir Cervenka of www.sword.cz?I have two swords on commission with him that were supposed to be one year to completion. That year is basically here. I have tried writing to him 3 times in the past 2+ weeks with no reply. I made deposits that were not insignificant. At this point, I am becoming more than a little concerned. ----------- UPDATE 1-25-24... I received my first email from Vladimir today since I tried to get an update back in Sep/Oct. He apologized for the delay and said he was behind schedule on swords, in part due to recent illness. Additionally communication was impaired due to email problems on his end. I thanked him for the update and told him there was no particular rush and simply appreciated him reaching out. I think I will see my 2 commissions eventually. I will update this thread as needed.

I haven’t worked with him before but I’ve had success by calling, repeatedly if necessary, other custom smiths I’ve worked with when they were behind their agreed upon timelines.

I got a sword and dagger set from him last year and ordered with another person, so it was a large order. It arrived a good five months longer than the original estimate, but it did eventually arrive. Don't know if that helps you.

Like 90% of the custom smiths I've commissioned are off on their eta, usually by months if not a year or 2, heck even right this moment I got like 5+ commissions that are late already

Same. Well, only 3 commissions on my part, but still.

It does. Thank you.
Really, my bigger issue is the lack of response to reasonable communication. This unwillingness to reply to emails seems particularly acute with Eastern European smiths and HEMA equipment suppliers.
I understand delays and have grown accustomed to them in this hobby, But, lack of communication will always rankle me. Just write back and say there will be a delay. Most us will certainly understand.

I have a commission with Elgur Swordsmith. The 16 month wait was last month. They haven't responded to messages. Don't mind the wait, dislike the silence.

Looking at the url makes me think he's in the Czech Republic? I hope he's not been a victim of the war?

Concerning the war only the bad economy could have gotten to him, though he likely would have said something somewhere if this was the case.

Hello!
I just wanted to give my own update. I purchased an excellent sword from Vladimir in 2021 and I can confirm he is a pleasure to work with and very communicative. He is currently going through some health issues, as well as technical issues regarding his e-mails on top of that, about which he informed me as well. He sent me a message earlier today, asking politely if I could update you guys on the reasons for his absence, as he has no account on SBG.
So rest assured, he is a reliable and excellent swordsmith, who has earned his reputation through the years.
