Are the Windlass spearheads 1065 steel @50hrc like the swords or something else? Because the more I look at it the bigger my need for it gets. :D Windlass appears to be somewhat secretive as to the material used. Their Yari is of T-10. My personal thoughts are not to worry. My guess would be 1060-1065 steel @≈50hrc. I have no complaints with my spearhead and have heard of no complaints other than one about the weld between the blade and socket. The only thing stopping me from ordering is our law. I declared the javelin head as sport and hand carried the other. I can’t think of an acceptable reason for say importing a hewing spearhead. I’d love to have another CS head more so than a Windlass. I doubt if customs would buy “weed cutter”.

I've seen some genuine implements which looked more like weapons than what they're actually intended for. You have manual aerators, specialty spades, and weeding knives/extractors. Would a spearhead really look that much different to this: Nisaku Hori Hori Namibagata Japanese Weeding Knife

"I need a spear for hunting weeds in the garden. Would you believe they are carnivorous plants?"
The spearhead itself looks quite similar to the Windlass Qama short sword. Maybe they'd buy a short machete blade without grip?

Update - I ended up purchasing a quasi Oakeshott type XVIIIe, the Ronin Katana Krom Killer, from one of our forum members here. Did some pumpkin cutting over the weekend, which was a ton of fun. It ultimately is a lot like a short cutting spear ha.
I am still interested in a dedicated spear at some point. I am kind of interested in the Cold Steel products but would like to customize them more. Does anyone know if you can buy their spearheads standalone, instead of kitted with their shaft and butt?

As far as I can see, Cold Steel polearm and spear heads are weird in that they have no ‘back’ to them. It looks like the socket is open at the back and haft is visible. I could be wrong, though.

True, the CS polearms seem to be only folded around, still vaiable though, it's more cosmetic I think. On the other hand a socket like this is probably less sturdy than a closed one. Visually I am not a fan. BTW there is a halberd from United Cutlery that looks nice for around 110$ but you can get it on sale for 70$.

At Midway USA there is still some CS Boar spear heads with sheath for $33 (25% off $44. I already have one but just bought another today at that price. Great cutter and excellent performer.

But if they are functional and cheap, I'll take that trade. Appreciate the recommendations everyone. Also curious about training blunts/feders that would represent the Krom Killer. Appreciate any pointers, I know very little about those.

LeMal - Love to see a picture of that short-shafted hewing spear of yours.
