Hoping you can give insights on this sword that I found at the house of my late uncle. Thanks I see a nice hamon on it. Do you know haw to remove the tsuka (handle), to show us both sides f the nakago (tang)? www.ksky.ne.jp/~sumie99/treatment.html There might be a mei (signature), or some other markings on it.

Pretty sure that's a plastic samegawa (ray skin). The fittings & blade, along with the quality of the ito wrap (from the pix, anyhow) have me thinking it's a lower-end "mall ninja" sword.
