Hello all-- I'm here to sing the praises of Damian Sulowski, of historicalswordszone.com. I really can't say enough good things about my experience working with him. I sent him a sketch and some specs for a Type XVIII arming sword, and he absolutely nailed it (as you can see below-- click the drawing to see an animated overlap). The man is a true artist; he pays very close attention to what you want, but also advises you freely-- I learned a lot more about swords from our conversations. His wife does the absolutely stunning leatherwork on the handle and scabbard-- the pictures don't do them justice. Damian delivered exactly what I asked for, managed to finish it early, ship it quickly, and the cost for a custom sword of this caliber is extremely reasonable. If you're thinking about ordering a sword from him, do it. The feel in the hand is not like anything I've encountered; everything feels light and tight and where it should be. This particular sword is a cutter-- and it feels like it would glide through just about anything (I don't have the heart to test it, being such a pristine work of art-- maybe someday). Let me know if you have any questions. Type XVIII "Wilczy Kieł" Total length: 87cm Blade length: 70,5cm Blade width at the base: 55mm Thickness of blade (at the base): 5,8mm Weight: 1162g Balance: 10cm Grip length: 9,8cm Edge is FRIGHTENINGLY sharp Full functional, made with high quality steel 51CrV4 (6150)

I own the sword on his website named "The Black Forest" (not the original owner). That convinced me to commission a XIIa "Grete Swerde of Warre" from him (should be starting this month or early October).

Oh yeah-- that's a stunner. I'll look forward to seeing progress on the new one-- I love how he shows the whole process.

We may yet make the trip up north and that sword will be the number one item for show and tell - Now I'm waiting to see your Albion. Have they given you any kind of heads up on that within the last few months? I enjoy watching my nephew trying to handle the sword addiction thing and losing the battle --
Let us know what might be next on your list --

I've got a smallsword/rapier type coming probably around X-mas, and the Albion will likely come in June. You're right, I'm losing the battle miserably!

i looked up his typical cost. i better make more money than the cheaper stuff I should be able to afford from Czechia. Might be able to afford an axe or spear from him lol.
video of the viking looked really nice besides the type XVIII.

It looks great!
Just out of curiousity what was the timeline for him making the sword?

It looks great! Just out of curiousity what was the timeline for him making the sword? He did mine in under a year-- faster than he estimated. And once he started, it went quick. I was very impressed with this-- I ordered an Albion a few months prior to reaching out to Damian-- and I'm still waiting!

Debating whether he Matteusz will be my next commission. they both do great work. Your sword is gorgeous! Matteusz makes good looking swords (he's the younger brother, you might already know). I actually emailed them both at the same time-- Matteusz said he wasn't doing customs at the moment-- and Damian jumped right in. He's got such a great attitude, he seems like a friend at this point. Also-- just for my personal preference, Damian's swords all feel like they have just the right proportions. Everyone else does something or other that looks a little off to me-- his always look nailed. So I trust him.
