Sword enthusiasts seem to like tang shots, so I thought that I would share. No. 1- Anduril. 36". 2 lbs.-11.3 ozs. No. 2- Gothic Templar. 36". 2 lbs.-12.6 ozs. No. 3- Ranger. 36". 2 lbs.-13.4 ozs. No. 4 Elf. 35.5" Short fuller. Thin and spatulate. Forged sharp with no bevel. 2 lbs.-3.3 ozs. No. 5- 2 Hd. Gothic. 39". 2 lbs.- 3.0 ozs. No. 6- Norman. 31". 2 lbs.-5.4 ozs. Very close to sharp. No. 7- Dark Age. 28.5". 2 lbs.-1.0 ozs. All blade lengths are to the shoulder. Weight is blade only. Inconsistency? Yes, but very desirable to me. Evidence of being handmade? Yes.

Uhh, you have to upload the pics, we cannot view them straight from your PC...Try Photobucket or Imageshack. ![;)](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Wow, those blades all look alike... I hadn't noticed how near-identical these are until looking at this picture. Enlightening, really.
And just for the record, inconsistency is neither desirable nor evidence of being hand made. "Hand-made" and "evidence" thereof are concepts that amuse me. Good sword forged by good smiths look good. Good sword cut by good machines look good. Replace either of the first goods with bad and the second changes, too. That's all there is to it.
Interesting shot, though; thanks for the pictures.

Is the img tag not working? ![???](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) ![](http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/5451/img0525dj9.jpg) ...Apparently not. Odd.

Nope, so I had to just put the direct links into my post. Anyways, the only DSA sword I was ever really interested in was Anduril, but I was really put off by the weight. If they did another run with more distal taper and brought it down to 3.5 lbs, I'd be all over it like a fat kid on cake. Because I want an Anduril replica that can not only cut and look great, but that I can actually wield for more than a few swings...

Yes. The 36" blades are basically one and the same (but for the etchings), except for that very strange Elf??? Essentially the Norman is a short 36". The 2 hd. Gothic and Dark Age are the only unique ones really.

I had my eye on their gothic for a while, but unfortunately for DSA Windlass put out the Vernuil. I'm sure I spelled that wrong but I don't feel like looking it up. Either way, I would be buying neither sword in any short term...so if, when I have spare funds, one or the other is no longer available (I'm looking at you, Windlass... ![>:(](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/angry.png) ) then I may have to opt for whatever is left... Thanks Pal. I like the help. No problem; the matter piqued my curiosity and I couldn't resist meddling. ![:-X](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/lipssealed.png)

Dang, those are heavy. But I'd rather have too heavy than too light if those were my choices. I like my DSA longsword (started out the same as your templar) more than my windlass longword because the windlass is too thin and whippy for my tastes. Though I ground the crap out of my DSA which brought the weight down some.

DSA has a few swords that I had though about before but... with their consistent weight issues and poor handling and balance ( the ones that I've held ) and the disappointing specs on... well just about every good looking piece they produce I don't think they'll ever be getting my money.
Unless of course I don't mind a poorly made sword, ( durable and well made aren't the same thing for those few of you that need to jump on dsa's .... coattails.)

Seeing them all side by side like that, without fittings and furnature, I AM surprised at how similar all the blades look. Also, I am always surprised at the tangs on DSA swords, just as Paul was when he first reviewed them. For such large heavy blades, they just LOOK week, even tho eveidence has shown they hold up pretty damn well.

Is that the gothic two handed fittings on a dark ages blade?
