Hi!
I have never posted on a forum before and I hope you don't mind a newbie here.
My dad has a collection of ottoman and Caucasian items and I have been helping him with selling on different auctions, such as eBay and Catawiki. A Shashka which I submitted for auction recently had been rejected by Catawiki, they emailed me back saying that the item isn't suitable for the site as they stopped auctioning blades and weapons, which is extremely confusing as there are some items up for sale in the same category and also I just sold something very similar through their auction.
Do any of you know if there are actually new regulations on this particular website and if there are any alternative platforms were I could list stuff to sell?
any feedback will be highly appreciated!

The law, regulations, and the way people interpret them can be confusing, not to mention downright subjective and contradictory. Sometimes it’s in the wording of the ad that can cause the problem. I’ve run into the problem many times when buying. As an example, in my country a sword is considered a weapon but can possibly be had after a mountain of red tape and money. However, a repro is not considered a sword but a wall hanger or decoration, although it is fully serviceable. So much for our law makers. I ordered an antique kukri with a 15” blade and it came through without a hitch. Later when I ordered a newly made one the delivery was haltered because someone along the way declared it a sword. Both times I ordered, and both times with much haggling I was able to convince them otherwise. I know one time the boss’s, who was new at the job, subordinates tried to tell him that the kukri wasn’t a sword. I dare say that I could order a 26” machete with no problems as machetes are common here. The truth is that I can buy a machete locally for less than the international shipping cost. But a 15” kukri was another story.

Treeslicer offers a good suggestion. Check out our Classified section. I think ebay gets a cut, I don’t know about Catawiki but I suspect so also, we ask nothing other than to follow the rules.
