Hello everyone.
I have recently seen that the Anduril Museum Collection version of United cutlery is available to reserve. In principle it is made of 1060 high carbon steel, but my doubt is with the tang. I sent an email to UC asking about the tang and they told me it's a full tang, but does anyone know how the tangs of these United Cutlery versions are made?
I have seen several posts in the forum about Glamdring, but without images or anything. The sword is a collector's item more than anything else, but for that matter I prefer it to be a more functional version. I want a sword more than a wall hanger. Could anyone shed some light for me?
Thank you

Hey friend. We have been discussing this sword for a bit now. You may find out discussion about it helpful! Check it out! sbg-sword-forum.forums.net/thread/62730/official-anduril-high-carbon-bladeAbout the tang specifically, I don't recall us talking too much about it really. What I can tell you for sure is; this sword is NOT functional, nor is it supposed to be. That frustrates a lot of people and has many questions why bother with a carbon blade at all? Even I admit, that while I need this new Anduril, it is odd to have a tempered carbon blade if the rest of it isn't really functional.... So who knows. Is it a full tang? The tang is likely threaded into the pommel. But the pommel and guard are a zinc alloy and therefore not solid enough to be cutting with. So, even if the tang IS at least "full" being threaded into the pommel, it definitely still is not functional. Might you be able to chop some pumpkins?, Yes. But might the handle fall apart when trying to do so? Also yes. We have chatted with a UC rep that sometimes joins the chat here or on Facebook. They did originally want to make it more functional with solid steel hilt parts. They just couldn't make it work for the budget they were going for. Those if us willing to pay $2,000+ for a truly movie accurate "functional " Anduril are too out numbered by those that won't. Saying all that, UC has shown us that the thing is going to be quite beautiful. I believe it is going to have a bit of a hollow ground blade, which is fantastic. So check out the other chat on it! It has gotten quite lengthy! - Steve Lionhardt

Thank you Lionhardt. I´ve read the entire post about Anduril. In fact I thought to post there, but I thought that would be better to open a new post because it did not clarify anything about the tang. Even I´ve read the post about Glamdring MC, and apparently is the same construction, but the pommel of Glamdring is shorter tan Anduril´s one. In the future I´ll continue posting in the other discussion. Anyway you've resolved me the doubt, a finest wall hanger that need some cares or.... nothing more

I dunno why the hilt and pommel couldn't be stainless or plated silver. It would pair better with the 1060 blade. I don't see why that would add cost over mystery metals.

Because the steel needs to work on it, and the others, only needs molds. Cheaper and faster construction. For the price would be made of steel. If the tang would be to the end of the steel's pommel threaded, at least will be something special, but on this way of construction I'll prefer to spend my money in another sword
