I tried searching so if anyone knows the thread I'd be grateful.
I'm in the USA. I'm having a package shipped from eastern Europe. It's been a long time but I seem to remember if you declare the package at over a certain price it can cause hold ups or issues with customs. Does anyone know what the cut off is??
Thanks as always

It would depend on what you are shipping, what HTC code is used and the cost declared. Rules are different for different commodities. I just had this discussion with our Global Export Compliance Manager at work a couple weeks ago about getting a sword from Eastern Europe.
With Swords, if declared as a sword (using HTC 9307.00.0000), there is no value below which there are no duties. Duties are 2.7% and then there is the Merchandise Processing Fee (MPF) for formal entries. which is an ad valorem fee of 0.3464 percent. The fee is based on the value of the merchandise being imported, not including duty, freight, and insurance charges. The maximum amount of the fee shall not exceed $538.40 and shall not be less than $27.75. So, basically, duties on an item declared as a sword are about 3% is what I was told.

Last time I purchased from Czech Republic was around 2021. It was around $1300. It wasn't a problem with price. Make sure you're not buying from idiots though that put the wrong invoice on the box... Yeah, that causes huge problems with customs.
The threshold at customs says $2500 before fees are involved. I have spent just under that from Japan with no issues.
