Intro:
''Red oxide primer is a coating that prevents rust formation on ferrous metal surfaces. It is an alkyd-based primer pigmented with red oxide and extenders. It is also known as minimum or red lead, and it works by reacting with iron or iron oxide3. Red oxide primer is used for gates, railings, and outdoor equipment, and it is applied before a topcoat. It is free from heavy metals like lead, mercury and chromium.''
Recently I acquired (2) German made Model 1895 Cavalry Lances as My ''Commission'' and in 20 Years there had not been a single One like them on the market for sale down here.

Personally, I would Rather remove Asphalt from the highway in the Mojave Desert during the Hottest day of the year with a Spoon!
Has anyone Ever had to deal with ''Red Oxide Primer?''
I tried Absolutely everything that I could think of! And beyond!
Over 200 hours of hard work with Lethal chemicals and each Lance is over 10ft. Long so not easy to move around in my space.
I tried the following tricks:
Wet/Dry with Oil from about 60 Grit to 5,000.
Every Metal Cleaner on the market.
Thinner.
Remover.
Salt and Vinegar.
Drano, same ingredient. Inside a PVC tube that I put the lances in.
Brillo Pads.
And Finally, I tried ''Aircraft Paint Remover'' over night! Removed my skin really fast!
But I began to see a tiny bit of progress!
Damn that Primer and the Idiot who used it but underneath the Lances are ''Pristine'' 1895!
I have given up for now and moved on to other projects!
Many Thanks!
I think that Sir Uhlan must be LOL because he must know an EZ trick! I Hope!
Or Sir Pgandy!
Be Well,
Ramiro Guerrero
