Even a military dadao cuts better than those katana did.

Going by the blade geometry actually not too surprised between the different swords. The katana blade was far less wide and a steeper angle to the edge.

I have to echo todd. My oxtail dao is a terror. To me a katana is the most beautiful of all swords, many a piece of art and cut well. However, when it comes to performance, I do believe China has an edge.

Competition Mat cutter Katana are often a lot wider and thinner in edge profile and geometry for this reason. But that makes it less durable to hard target cutting as a sacrifice. There is a video that shows an extreme example of this too at a tameshigiri exhibition. I would not even call this a katana anymore lol
Wait for the last guys cutting at the end. I'm sure some people have seen this.

Paper is an uninspiring way to hype a blade. Can’t you do the same with pig cadavers from a butcher? Also beating a skinny little iaido sword is a very low bar. It’s like deliberately picking the weakest compassion you can find and expecting people to be awed. Take a close look though and it just means *slightly* more practical than a iaito.
