There is an adaptation of The Winter King by Bernard Cornwell premiering in August on mgm+ I think. The trailer looks pretty cool for those who might be interested.

i'm 2 episodes in though 3 doesn't drop for another week.
1) there is a lot of africans in 6th century pre 536ad Brittania. Well, Dunnonia. I have read there might have been a very small population from Roman occupation but, well whatever. There might have been some near and far east Asians too. semprini it, sure. No main characters besides Merlin and one of the village farmers who is sort of in charge who adopts a child he raises with his daughter. No there isn't anyone from the America's at least.
But, tbh I can overlook this pretty easily. This and Merlin being black (or let's pretend half black basically black) is the least of it's problems. Merlin being black or half can easily work within him being the son of a Devil.
2) It just felt slow and long, especially the 2nd episode. I was up late watching the 2nd and I thought I may have passed out but stopped it with 15 minutes left and watched it the next day though apparently i hadn't missed anything.
3) I've read if you are familiar with the books, they made Merlin a lot nicer and changed stuff. Fortunately I haven't and it's probably better you don't like TheLastKingdom until the series runs it's course or you'll be annoyed. I can just watch it for what is is blissfully like theWitcher (though the last season turned into a crapfest in the last few episodes)
I still like pretty much all things Arthur and I find it a lot more tolerable than a French medieval Arthur story with knights in plate mail and arming swords and so forth.
Cromwell changed the stories of some the Arthurian characters which got me a bit lost but isn't a complete clustersemprini. After I've seen a half dozen Arthur movies and tv shows, I guess some changes are ok so it's not the same old semprini anymore.
Fun fact I love to bring up. My father's name translated means King Arthur. And my mother's is bitter empress (their marriage went worse than Arthur and Guinevere's) Which should basically make me Mordred lol.
I've seen reviews compare it GoT and no way it's even in the same league as the first 2 episodes of GoT. I wouldn't even say any of the acting is bad but it's likely just the script.
And let's face it, there isn't much to watch these days but reruns unless you watch baseball and football religiously.

I'm chilling well enough as it is, after another day of chainsawing dqwned trees. Great to be back on line power after a week, too, and off my generators.

i follow the subreddit and they said they have changed things (something about the last 2 episodes and Nimue).
That being said, i definitely think it has gotten better as you get further into the first season. You just have to push through hard in the first few episodes, especially episode 2 that I thought I fell asleep watching.
Guinevere/Jordan Alexandra is mixed Central and South American with Caucasian which makes for an exotic looking Guinevere which is a bit odd. TBH, though Guinevere has been popular in Arthurian legends, I see her as something that was added very late as it seems to come from the 12th century. The name itself, Findabar is similar to the daughter of Queen Mebd, and maybe because it just would seem odd to have a story about a Briton king with no queen associated with him.
It seems Morgan Le Fay in early texts was not an antagonist and I wonder if the Church changed her to be an antagonist given that she was associated with magick as a goddess, witch, or fay folk?
Not that it matters, but it appears Nimue and Merlin are additions by Geoffrey of Monmouth (I didn't actually know that) unlike Ambrosius Aurelianus
Just like Sagar Arya is Indian. It's a trifling matter and still nothing compared to having a half dozen African characters/actors in the series though there seems to have been some northern african and middle eastern people in old Roman Britain before everything went to semprini in 536AD.
Anyways, TLDR, its gotten better in a month.
