Hi I'm looking to engrave a sword. The goal is to cover entirely a single side of a sword with a concept I already have created. Does anyone know how to go about this? What is the price going to be? If you know any good engravers please let me know! Thanks in advance.

This is kind of like asking how much it costs to commission a painting....it really depends.
The size and complexity of the engraving, the type of engraving, and who you get to do it are all going to affect the price.
As far as engraving goes....you have 4 main types.....hand engraving, machine engraving, lazer engraving....and chemical etching.
Which one you choose is going to depend on the complexity and amount you are willing to spend.
Hand engraving, if you can find someone willing to do it, is going to run you $4,000-$10,000....and the swords temper might be an issue.
Machine engraving, ide expect $1,000-2,000.
Laser engraving, if you can find someone with a large enough laser, ide expect $500-1,200
For chemical etching, I'm not too familiar with having that done, so I can't provide much insight.
Can you post the design and we can get a better idea of which is going to work best?

You can do electrolytic etching at home with a few 9V batteries and salt water. There are many tutorials on youtube, it's relatively easy. Cut a picture out of some vinyl tape as a negative, put it on the steel after cleaning the steel with solvent, then connect the battery to a cotton ball and the steel (polarity matters, negative to the cotton) run the ball over the metal and it will etch.
It should be pretty safe, still, be careful if you do it and try it on something you are prepared to ruin first.
