Twin Peak Liao Dao is approx. 2268 g (5 lb.)
No one really know exactly how this 1000-years-old sword was used.
According to some historical text, Liao Dao can be used by the Kitan Warriors on horseback. It is even possible to use such a heavy sword single handed?
Lancelot Chan and his student at the Ancient Combat Association in Hong Kong try out the Twin Peak Liao Dao in single-hand and double-hand mold.
The cutting target is PVC pipe wrapped with wet newspaper with a diameter simulating human neck.

Looks sometwhat like this to me.
To keep the opponent away, it probably could work, since the blade itself is quite short you might want the extended range. You can see he is having some trouble at controlling and holding onto it though. I probably couln't do this without losing grip, others might. 2kg is pretty high for one hand though.

Most war horses are trained to stay on autopilot if you let go of the reins. Otherwise horseback archery would be impossible. I've read there's some doubt as to whether such a heavy sword was actually used, or if they were just for display. Anyway, using a sword two handed on horseback is possible.
