Finally got my sword. It’s uneven as expected, but also much sharper and much more solid feeling than expected. Definitely worth the price and wait in my opinion.

How much does it weigh?

I love the blade. I’m not so enamoured of the pommel. I think it needs something back there to provide aesthetic (and maybe actual) balance to the front heavy blade.

Need to order a new scale and then I'll weigh it when it gets here. It's not near as heavy as I pictured it being though...or at least it doesn't feel that way. It's much more nimble than this electroplated katana.
Also I haven't taken the pommel off yet to look at the hilt. They have it on extremely tight and I figured I'd rather not mess with it since it feels good so far. I'm sure it's a rat tail but I'm hoping the actual sword blank goes at least halfway down the handle before they cut it off and weld the rod on, like in that video I linked.
I did stick the tip into the carpet though and bend it a bit. All the flex is in the blade, and then it springs back to normal. It doesn't budge at the handle like some videos I've seen, so that made me happy. I honestly expected the blade to just be stiff and brittle.
It's definitely a bit front heavy so I do wish the pommel was bigger. If it turns out to be somewhat reliable, I'll probably buy another one from Pakistan with a bigger pommel just to see if I can change them out. I hate the finger grooves in the handle too, but I really liked the look of the wood so I'm kinda torn on that.
Lastly, it came with a sheath instead of a scabbard. I didn't really like that when I ordered it but I'm okay with it now. The sheath is really sturdy, thick, and well made so I have no complaints. I can always just make a scabbard if I want one that bad.

Looks good, time will tell on functionality.

Looks very nice. Be careful with the sheath though, don't leave it in there too long, it will rust quite fast in there in my experience.

If the pommel does come off...see if the grip moves and can be removed easily. If it can, it wouldn't be too hard to make your own grip if you'd like to give it a shot. Buying a really interesting wood blank online is easy (may not be cheap based on the wood and the size) and shaping it can be done by hand or with the aid of a belt sander. The most tedious part would be drilling holes through the block and then using a broach to open it up just enough to be snug.

Appreciate the advice. Yeah I plan on hanging it up within the week to get it out of the scabbard. Even if it does turn out to be somewhat functional, I just think it looks like a good display sword. Not sure how long they take to rust but hopefully not that fast.
Also the handle, it does sound pretty fun making my own now that I think of it. I own all the woodworking tools one could ever need so I might just give it a go.
