Just made a blade cover for my Albion Armorers Medium Danish Axe, based on a few archeological finds in Norway and Northern Germany. Pretty basic. Made from poplar scraps from my scabbard making.

Thanks. I really like this axe and figured it should be the first one I try to protect. It turned out better than I thought and has a slight friction fit that keeps it on upside down without the leather ties.

Nice. I always worry about the welt pulling away on my leather masks. That won't be a problem with yours!

Very nice! Please consider an end or edge pic to show how it is made? Just guessing, 3 (?) layers glued together?
Is any of the artifact info on web?
Thanks very much for sharing.

Thanks very much for sharing. sagy.vikingove.cz/en/axe-sheaths/I had to use 4 planks of poplar and thinned out the 2 in the middle. The reinforced edge of this axe is fairly considerable given the smaller overall size of the head. I am sure the originals would probably be made from one piece of wood with chiseled groove for the edge, but I have extra pieces of poplar from making scabbards so I used what is on hand. I will try to remember to take a pic from the edge side later.

A couple pics showing better the construction. I used mainly scrap pieces from my scabbard build, but feel good about the end result and it sure protects the edge.
