As I understand it, Mateusz and Damian do not get along, so a collaboration seems unlikely.

I do not own the Mateusz sword I reviewed - it was loaned to me by a friend. I think they both have their strong points, similar styles and price range. I would propose the design you want to each of them individually, find out price and timeframe, etc., and go with the one that ticks more of the boxes for you.

Mateusz is one of my favorite makers. I have four swords from him and can recommend his work without any qualms. He does do paint work like you mentioned for Damian, but I don't know to what limit.
The only unfortunate thing is that he no longer does custom commissions. Damian will most likely be a better bet if you want something more personal.

My nephew bought one from Damion. we are still waiting for it. The XIV arming sword- then he ordered the identical sword from Albion. He has more patience than I. I had bought three Ronin Katana swords and went ahead and gave him one of them so he could cut out in the backyard while waiting -- John

The few reviews I saw about Damian’s blades get to the same point: the sharpness isn’t there, I mean it isn’t as sharp as other newly made swords. For Mateusz I’ve never seen any review about blade efficiency, so if you can enlighten me this would help me a lot for my future purchase, this is quite an investment for a youngster like me.

Regarding Damian - Can't say. I don't own any of his work. I own four swords by Mateusz. Two have passed through my care. As for Mateusz, I've asked him on my last two custom commissions to make them 'extra' sharp and they're paper cutting sharp. I have a sword from 3 years ago from him that's not nearly as sharp. That just seems to be a case of asking him to do so before shipping. I will say that the swords I do own feel great in the hand. I would say a smidge better than the albions that I've handled. He understands distal taper and proper weights clearly.

You can try asking on the bladesmith forum too. www.bladesmithsforum.com/index.phpThey might have a lead on a European maker that isn't as well known, or maybe someone there from Europe can make one for you.
