I've been thinking about making custom wasters (wooden practice sword) lately to save money for things, and wanted to know, how much would people pay for one. The wood types would range between red oak to hickory, and would be hand made by me. I wouldn't be able to replicate anything since im not THAT good (though I do have quite a bit of talent). they could be weighted for a little extra to change the point of balance. I can do Chinese and European swords, but not bokkens. They can be painted or plain to the users specification. so, feedback please

Why not make them out of plastic instead? Plastic is a much better substance for making wasters out of.

that's it exactly, BUT if you want I could make the wood sword, make a mould of it, then make plasctic ones from the mould. this would also allow me to make more than one of the same sword

You work plastic the same way you work with wood, you don't pour it into a mould you make it out of sheets of HDPE or something of that nature.

floppy as all get out by all accounts though. Some woods if you can get them in the right lengths compare in their ability to take damage, but when they do take critical damage they fail catastrophically.

Erick: I have been researching this for a long time, you are better off with HDPE or something of that nature because it has been properly prepared. It has been proven on this forum that HDPE sheets are the way to go. Molding plastic yourself is messy and does not produce as good a result as the sheets.
Riiight! I am supposed to believe that this isn't a personal attack after your comments? Especially accusing me of misinforming folks. If you have evidence of my misinformation, then put your money where your mouth is and provide some evidence. Oh and by the way, attacking me in open forum is not proper etiquette. If you have a problem with me then you PM me, you don't do what you did.

I'm sorry, not sure why you've got such a hard on for me all of a sudden Erick but again if you don't give a crap and you won't provide evidence then I have to consider you full of semprini mate. You are the one who accused me and then you have no evidence that what I have said is wrong. So I think I will deem you a troll and tell you to have a nice day and mummy should keep more of an eye on you.

You're both acting out of line. This is an internet forum. Contrary to popular belief, the internet is NOT serious business. Honestly if we still had the smite button...
