Looks awesome! If I may offer an observation, engraved rondels could match quite nicely with your spaulders.

Thanks again guys. Jaufres, the bulk of it is from Mercenaries Tailor www.merctailor.com/catalog/index.phpSpaulders are from Steel Mastery www.steel-mastery.com/index.php?&model=cat_page&category_id=17Helm is from GDFB www.gdfb.co.uk/acatalog/GDFB_Helmets.htmlOn a side note if you're interested..... I had considered this guy as well as steel mastery to do the whole harness, before I found Merc Tailor, but price and time was a factor, but check out his work! www.tomala.lublin.pl/index.php?strona=wstep&lng=engAnother guy who I looked at is My Armstreet. I heard good reviews but, some of it looked a little iffy to me... armstreet.com/store/armor/1/Blood, after tax, converting to Canadian $, customs fees.....when I have the Gauntlets and bevor.....the plate armor alone will be around $2600. Chain maille Im making myself...butted for now.....riveted when I get into a place with a shop....but if one was to buy it, that would be an extra $1000 (depending where you get it) Arming Garments aren't cheap either. I cheated though and used leather motorcycle gear. An old biker jacket that I stitched arming points onto and cut the stitching out of the armpits to help maneuverability. Padded leather chaps under the legs....again chaps for maneuverability. And riding boots that I will take into a shoe repair place to get some lower heels put on (these are more like cowboy boots ) but since there is no grip on the soles...they work as well as historical turnshoes.

Very Cool looking Jak The engraving is very nice. How much does the whole thing weigh? Thanks for all the info too Debbie As it stands right now (including leather arming garments), without gauntlets and bevor, about 80-85 lbs. I estimate that my hauberk (made of 12 guage rings) with full sleeves and extending halfway down my thighs will add another 25-30 lbs, when its done. It moves really well but walking down stairs for the first time with all that weight was interesting! Also, I tried doing sit-ups in it to practice getting up....I managed like 4..hahha. I should patent a workout video...Abs of steel, the medieval way.

Hey Tsafa, I just weighed it properly( last time I just lifted it while standing on scale)I put all the armor on and stood on a scale here are the stats. As it stands here without bevor, gorget, and maille, or any weapons : Just the steel armor : 67 lbs. with leather arming garments and boots : 82 lbs.

Good God man, that kit weighs 82 lbs and still incomplete? That is prodigious to say the least- some really good looking pieces you have there. I'm jealous; my 12th century harness is not nearly as nice, but I guess it wouldn't be as there's very little plate to be had, mostly chain and leather. Won't bother to post it here, doesn't seem the venue for it.
Anyway, in short- love it!

Its all complete now, except for mail gussets on arms, neck and a mail fauld...about 85 lbs now with all the arming gear. By all means post your armor in the "Armor and Shields" section. I for one love to see what others have put together.

Nice kit.
I like the look, but the weight is way off. I believe that many historically accurate kits weigh between 45 and 65 lbs, maille/helm included - though the armor of antiquity was often thinner in construction.
I believe that using voiders and a maille skirt would cut down on your weight significantly. Additionally, the thinner gauge mail that Historic Enterprises sells is about half the weight of standard maille, yet is equally as durable as well as being riveted.
An additional 60-70 lbs in Iraq is quite a burden (IBA with daps, SAPI plates, groin/neck, sides, and weapon/equip load), and then you are not engaging in melee/sword play which requires an even higher level of mobility. I'd be willing to sacrifice a degree of armored protection to be more agile myself.
But, if you are not fighting in it, it really does not matter. Still a great look, but for my personal tastes, I'd like the full ensemble 30 lbs lighter.
BTW: Nice sword. I bought one of those last month from KoA. I am quite happy with it.
