Just out of curiosity, is there any particular source of katana fittings that are (presumably) produced in Longquan? Having tackled a number of project pieces in my spare time finding halfway decent fuchikashira and tsubas has always been somewhat tricky short of finding somebody else that have stripped components from a factory blade during their own project. That being said, I was able to somewhat recently find what appears to be reasonably decent copies of the Hanwei Oni Katana's tsuba, fuchikashira and menuki in iron, which I decided to order on a whim earlier today (since everyone seems to love the Oni's fittings). Still, is there any kind of known "source" to such furniture? As I have heard before that most "custom" makers in China simply purchase such fittings locally. Mostly just looking to learn a bit more about this I suppose, thank you.

I'd also love to know this, so I'm hoping someone replies! Most of these kinds of tsuba/fuchi/kashira/menuki/etc. are purchased from budogu suppliers. For instance, see here: www.yamatobudogu.com/collections/tsubaThey don't have your exact tsuba, but they have lots of other really nice reproductions. I suspect they're all from the same source. The problem is that in China, a lot of this production is centralized, but the producer or producers just respond to orders in Chinese. Sword makers and resellers submit their orders, they fill them and ship them, all in Chinese. For us to get them, there has to be a third party intermediary between us and them, because we don't know Chinese! Also, it's pretty hard for someone outside China to interact with the shipping system there, which is also all in Chinese.
