Thanks Dandelion, Purna is a very talented smith and very easy to work with, he produces fantastic pieces, they are wicked sharp and can take abuse too!

Regenyei custom longsword is here ("made" with longsword builder tool on their website)! The sword looks and handles great; even i can mange it quite easily. This due to a very aggressive profile taper and quite some distal taper. Question to the experts: we dont care too much about this, but is there a hitorical plausibility/background for such a narrow dagger tip on a longsword? Holgers Albion Squirelins Merenary is very pointy too but more... substantial, not flat!? Scabbard is kind of a disappointemnt, by the way; its handmade, and it has a wood core and all, but its obviously very generic. It holds the blade good at the mouth, but rattles a lot because of the blade only being half wide than the scabbard in the tip direction. Without mouth and chape too expensive all in all. Overall length: 123 cm Blade length: 93 cm Weight: 1,46 kg POB: 8 cm from guard

Dandelion Just hit the rounded area near the tip with a file and then put an edge back on it. Really quick to do. You are just making the tip pointier. I did that to VB longsword which had the same feature. Probable not historical.

First Black Friday/Black Week item has arrived: Windlass Chateauneuf-de-Randon Arming/Bastard Sword; nice! I link Matthew Jensens video below, i hope that's OK... casting/workout on the pommel is WAY more symmetric/refined on ours here.

My Black Friday Hanwei Practical Qongfu Sword. A pure joy to handle, I'm really happy with it. Plain but solid fittings. Comfortable grip, I see no need for grip band! . Weight 843 g. Very good distal taper from 5 mm (base) to 3 mm at the broad section, but at the very flat diamond cross section's middle "ridge" there, at the edges the blade is thinner. Not whippy or whobbling. Simply good handling and wicked sharp. Distal taper: (The blade looks bent on the picture, but it isn't.) The half slotted scabbard:

Really nice dao, Andi! Always liked the look of it, but got a deal on one of Hanwei's Oxtail Daos. What's the length of the blade? No grip band? Are you feeling ok?

Blade is 70 cm / 27,5" long, I wanted the longer blade of the black dao.

Once I got me some bracers and greaves I'll be complete And better yet, maybe an actual spartan helmet one day. My Norman helmet will have to do for now

I'm hard pressed to decide which is my second I was about to get a tactical gladius a few days back, but I ended up deciding against it. Danu just does that job better imo

I have this shield too, but in my imagination it's renaissance stuff, a rotella, combined with my sidesword. ... I need a conquistador helmet!

Funny you mention that, I was just studying rotella, to understand it's use, looking for ways to maximize my strapped shield practice
I can see targe stuff working with it as well. I'm not really sure how to train Mike a hopalite
