There are still a handful of the smallswords left for the season. My only real niggle about them is that the blade could have a longer and finer point. I can see they would have been easily abused though, so the stronger point makes some sense for a reproduction (beater). I'm sure some would take exception to the scabbard rings but it is again the context that needs to be considered. No one was doing pull ups using the scabbard as a chin bar hung from a tree. Imo, the entire line of swords from the source are worth the money. If I was buying, I would be sampling the entire line up. A good score! Cheers GC www.ebay.com/itm/184995536770?

The weight is within the range of historic small swords. The blade is quite stiff like it should be and the point is actually sharper than the spike bayonet that I have.

I like it. My dressier period sword is some 4 or 5 ounces lighter and the blade almost fits all the way in the scabbard (it is wider and pointier). The reproduction blade is stiffer. Cheers GC

BA German Longsword just arrived.
First impressions - all very well put together. Straight blade with well-done hilt. Grip feels great. I wasn't sure what to think of the rainflaps when I ordered it, but when I put it through a few guard positions, I realized they protect the blade when thumbing it, which I think is a nice touch.
Not very impressed by KoA's work on this blade, though. The sharpening is very uneven and the bevels are inconsistent. The dye on the rain guard is okay, but nowhere near as attractive as the advertised one on KoA's website. And there's a couple small blemishes on the blade, including what looks like a small fingerprint. Should be easy to clean up, but I shouldn't have to do that on a new sword.
This will be the next sword I do a review on. It'll be a two part review, with part 2 coming later when I'm able to do some cutting.

It looks good. I have been interested in this one and the Red Dragon Armoury combat bastard sword. They look like a lot of sword for the money. I look forward to your reviews as always.

I've been on the hunt for a new budget friendly longsword to replace a Ronin Katana model I gave a friend as a going away gift and was thinking about the BA but I thought the flaps weren't really my style... Still, might of made a mistake hesitating, again.
Edit: Crap, alientude, just realized I griped on the other BA thread about missing out. That's what I get for staying up to late. Not meaning to spam.

I'll give praise for the shamshir, that sword is absolutely princely! I don't think I could ever actually use something so beautiful!

Rick Barrett Katana made from W2 steel, with final polish and mounting done by Evolution Blades. Katanas aren't really my thing, but that is stunning. Congrats!

Only two issues for me. First, not a big fan of the belt with it's various straps and buckles. The scabbard sits fine by itself but when I put the sword in it hangs at an awkward angle. I'll keep fiddling with the straps and but it does seem needlessly troublesome. Second, the sword is extremely loose in the scabbard, along with my VA Harwich. As in no retention at all. Is that normal for VA scabbards or am I just the odd man out? Thanks for any info! For one, my VA longsword sits in the scabbard perfectly. It holds firmly even upside down, does not fall off. But I can pull it off the scabbard with very little resistance, it just feels very smoothly held inside at the whole length of the blade.
My blade not being highly polished (actually a bit on the rough side) might add a bit to the grip if you think of it, but overall the scabbard fit is very well done.
That said I also find the straps cumbersome. While nicely looking and fancy, not that practical. I switched them to the other supension. Not that I wear the sword on the belt actually, so it does not bother me in the slighest. Just in case.

It could also be an effect of different climates from where when it was shipped to u, wood can contract and expand so if the climate is very different the fit of the scabbard could change id let it acclimate for a few weeks and see how it fits then with the sword inside

Thanks guys, I pulled the Harwich scabbard out and it does seem to fit better. I was able to hold the sword upside down this time as long as I didn't shake it too hard. Looks like it may just be a climate issue. Thanks again and good luck with the shamshir sale Strommaster!

I love the new swords skelley. I love the VA Brighton. Valiant sure does make a good looking sword. The only thing I know about Chinese swords is that I do not want to be hacked with one It also looks like a nice cutter.

First one I tried to get was Dynasty Forge's willow leaf saber but I don't think that's ever happening. I think it's kinda crazy how many models LK Chen has been putting out in such a relatively short amount of time. I swear to God, the guy is trying to wipe my account clean.
