So just took a measurement with a caliper and it comes to 40.48 mm which is 1.59 inches wide at the hilt, so little less wide then the historical originals but I bet there were some made with a little less width and some with more width then seen as well.

Yea its not a definite for sure. Then again as I mentioned earlier Gus tends to make his blades narrower than average. That's also why Valiant Armoury swords tend to be narrower as they were initially designed by Gus too.

My collection is a bit too small to be thread worthy, so here were my last 3 purchases. Top to bottom: Swiss M1896 Trooper (1942), Swiss M1899 Officer dismounted (1941), Swiss M1867 Officer dismounted (1867-74)

My new Hanwei/Tinker Viking sword. Everything tight and straight. Nice hilt dekoration. Distal taper, lenticular cross section, good balance still with blade authority. No secondary bevel, butterknife sharp at the first 1/3 of the blade, ok sharp in the middle, very sharp at the 1/3 to the tip. The grip is the worst part but with double grip band wrap much much better. Perhaps I'll sand the edges of the pommel a bit smoother. Only my Hanwei Godfred handles a little bit better. But you feel the good balance even for a cutting orientated viking sword. My four muchachos!

From the Swords and More store in Germany. I've bought it in 2012 and it's the 3 lb Legacy Arms/Generation 2 original model not the "improved" 4 lb Cas Iberia/LA version.

M1840 light artillery sabre type 2 by Ames dated 1860. I have a small collection of Mansfield & Lamb and Emerson and Silver M1860 light cavalry sabers and a couple odd M1850 foot officers and Staff&Field officers swords... Never owned a Light artillery saber and always wanted one. Found this one for a fair price...sword appears all original and issued; it has a rack number (22) and one small nick in the blade. Scabbard is original civil war issue but the throat appears to be an later replacement, scabbard looks like it was chromed at one time and cleaned up. I love being a custodian of history and so wish they all could talk and tell their stories.

Really sick Rannh1! Is Forja Fontenla making the shield also? No no, the shield has been done by a fellow Aussie who is a brilliant shield maker, His name is Eoghan Flynn.
At the very least it begs a look :-p

Recent Atrim XVIa.7 with Valiant Armoury/Sonny and Zach Suttles scabbard. Sonny was great at communicating, and nailed the custom colors I was looking for. The whole thing is freakin' awesome. Sword: Blade: 34" Overall: 44" Grip: 8" POB, handling, etc.: Lightsaber Shahpness: wicked shahp dude
