Not normal in my opinion, visibly bent.

L6 in its bainite form is a very difficult thing to achieve / work with...Very few have the ability to do it well and even then sometimes they have to take several passes at it with bent or cracked blades from the heat treat process before they get it right.

Cas Iberia doesn't say it's L6 bainite, just L6. Tough steel, but warps are a mistake.

I have over 50 swords and not one of them has such a visible warp I don't consider such things as a problem as long as I need a ruler or much time to recognize it. But one of the first thing I do with a new sword is looking along the blade like in your picture 3 and then the blade should look straight. Warps happen to blades but it's the job of the seller to check it and don't deliver warped blades. If you should expect warped blades you should also expect the seller to fix the problem I think. Maybe just some bending back is sufficient here but that should make the seller, not you.

As others have chimed in that sort of condition out of the box is not to be expected and I would return it. Could be an indicator of other errors. Kult of Athena has good customer service so it should be an easy affair to resolve.
Bummer that it did arrive in that state as I was a bit curious about this 'petite' miao dao that Hanwei premiered last year. Are you going for a replacement or looking at a different miao dao?

Cas Iberia will receive new shipment in the summer. I will wait till then, and buy a replacement.

Hello, I bought my first sword a Hanwei – Miao Dao with L6 Bainite Blade. But, because of warps on the blade, I had to return the sword to the seller. Would you please take a look at these pictures, and tell me whether these warps are normal, or not. ![]() I have zero experience with long blades. Thank you That looks like poor grinding not warping.

Nope, those are warps/bends. Grind errors would show thickness and surface irregularities.

Grind errors would show thickness and surface irregularities. That's exactly what it looks like.

I work in ironwork IRL and that kind of bent wouldn't pass on a portal, not to mention a blade. I know people who aren't blacksmiths at all who could make far straighter blades, and twice that long. He's clearly taking you for a fool. Demand an exchange or refund.
