Or pole hammer. Basically ironmongery on a stick. She’s 137cm long in total. The tip of the point reaches the middle of my chest, so pretty much the minimum size for a pollaxe. But would suit the Fiore school of pollaxe fighting perfectly. Nice and solid but I’m sure the haft is Indian hardwood rather than European ash. Anyway, here she is.

I bought it from Celtic Webmerchants in the Netherlands. I’m pretty sure it’s Deepeeka. Hence my suspicions about the haft. However the head is well built and historically accurate. The two lateral spikes are a sort of screw fixing to hold the head together. The bottom spike is nicely done and the whole thing weighs 1.5 kilos. With most of that weight in the upper 25% of the weapon.
My one complaint (until I really test the shaft) is that the beak/bec and top spike are very dull and would need serious re-profiling to sharpen up. But since I’m never likely to find myself in a battle to the death with a 15th Century man-at-arms, I’m willing to let that slide.
It cost me 116 euro, as far as I remember. There’s far better value in polearms in the European market than there is in swords.

A good weapon if that steel is of decent quality and thus durable.

Two close up shots of the head.
A little rough and ready in places but I’m not worried about having an Arms and Armour finish on a 116 euro polearm. I can tidy it up myself.

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want to get hit by it.

I have the Deepeeka venetian polehammer and can say it would take a beating. Not built perfect, it is deepeeka, but it can smash bones thats for sure.
