Easy question for the senior members. At which price do antique katanas and tamahagane katanas start? Is it possible to get any of those around 1.000 buckets? And who are the typical vendors to go to (i am living in germany)? thanks in advance

In poor condition, you can get authentic, tamahagane nihonto for a few hundred.
Polished, mounted, and papered probably starts around $2,000 and goes way up from there. Depends on what you're looking for. Age, school, smith, size, etc.
Vendors are numerous, but I don't know about Germany, specifically. I'll let someone else cover that.

In Spain you can buy a Hanwei paper Crane for around 3,200 euros. This is the only tamahagane katana I've seen here. It sells Swords and More and sends it to Europe.
With tamahagane I have not seen more, and ancient swords I have not seen on the market

I keep asking myself why putting cheap/bad fittings on blades worth 1k+ It's such a waste. I mean, I am paying $1500 or more, how much of a problem would be pay $1650 and get a sword with a proper set like from Yamato Budogu?

I mean, I am paying $1500 or more, how much of a problem would be pay $1650 and get a sword with a proper set like from Yamato Budogu? The fittings on the sword linked probably cost $20 AT MOST. They are HORRIBLE. But if you think, they buy fittings for $20 and maybe make a $200 profit (from the fittings alone considered in the whole package). They get Yamato fittings, you're looking at several hundred. To make a profit, it's more like they would have to charge maybe an extra $500 - $1000. I know that sounds crazy and it is, but this is probably how they look at it. Is it just the state of buying swords in Europe? Why such high costs for things? Is it all import tax?

In Europe you have to pay a lot. In the case of Spain you have to pay for import, Duty costs (It depends on the product, for some you pay more than for others) and VAT (Spain 21%). If you buy a sword (for example) of 1000 euros, when you get home you pay around 430 euros more.
And you have to add what the importer wants to earn.If you buy from abroad you have to count the costs. If you are lucky and it is manufactured by someone in Europe, you will save a lot of money. For example, a couple of years ago, Swords and More manufactured 2 katana models with T10 steel, price in Spain 300 euros. You can buy a Hanwei katana (snake katana) with T10 steel for 632 euros
