Hello all, It has been a while since I posted here. Howdy all and it is good to be back. Anyway, does anyone own or have any experience with MRL's Scimitar? I could have sworn they used to call it a Shamshir. But it is on Page 67 of my latest catolog, # 102. I think it is beautiful. And I love that helmet on that same page too, the "Horseman's Helmet". Here they are: Below is the helmet, which I think goes right with the Scimitar perfectly: I went to MRL one time a while back to look at and buy that sword. Drove from Montgomery, Al to Conyers, 20 miiles east of Atlanta, to MRL's neat place! NATURALLY it was temporarily out of stock!! I tried on that helmet and NATURALLY it was too small for my fat head!! So I bought something and came home agrevated! But anyway, I was just wondering what the handling charactoristics of that scimitar/Shamshir were; balance, temper, handling, if constructed well, etc., etc.. Thanks, Freebooter Alabama

Hello Freebooter,
If I'm not mistaken, I think JPFranco has (or had) the shamshir, maybe he can tell you what he thinks of it...I think he did a review of it also, on the sword buyers guide (or is it on the sword manufacturers guide, not sure).
I would be interested in that one too, in a not so distant future...so many nice swords, so little money...
Good luck...and don't forget to review it if you ever get it...i'd be interested in a second opinion...

REflingar, One of these days I am going to get one. I want that "Horseman's Helmet" that is on the same page in the MRL catolog. I think they go with one another. But if and when I get one of those swords, I will definately post a review of it. Later, Freebooter

I just added some pics to the original post. But I forgot to add that I went to MRL and bought something and while there handled the Scimitar. Man, what a light, fast, and deadly sword!!! I must have it now!! Later, FB

Hello all, Neat review! As I said earlier, I had gone back to MRL on another occasion and they had the swords in at that time so I handled one. And the reviewer was correct; not only is it a beautiful sword but strong, well balanced and light, and super fast! I must have one now!!!! I had planned on getting one but naturally they cut out our OverTime at work so I have not been able to afford it. Freebooter Alabama
