I've had this blade up for sale for some time. Today I dug it out of the cabinet to take some new photos, per request - but having looked at and handled this thing again, I changed my mind and am not selling it after all. It's just so nice, I don't have anything else quite like it, and I don't really need the storage space that badly... But hey, I went to some pains to get these photos in spite of the lack of light up here this time of year, and while I couldn't quite muster up the energy to write up a real review, I thought I might as well post them here. You guys can probably appreciate them. I tried my best to show the rough but IMO very attractive texture in that last shot. It makes the blade really hard to photograph, BTW, making it seem blurry even in the sharpest focus and brightest light, whereas in person it almost gives the steel a layered appearance (AFAICT it's just simple monosteel all throughout - allegedly TFW's proprietary blend, which I couldn't tell you anything about except that it really is commendably hard yet springy).

I don't pay enough attention to the classifieds. Thought about picking one of these up a while ago, after getting my first antique Kris. Can't get into the geometry, though, so I was reluctant to fork over an amount of money that could buy another antique if I was patient and shopped around. Had I known you were selling one I might have been more tempted by it... Great pics, at any rate. Thanks for sharing. Edit: Shoot, and only 150€? Shipping would've probably been the same or more, but likely still cheaper than from TFW new...

Sharp blades are good to have, if Shire-folk go walking, east, south, far away into dark and danger.

Those long curved blades can also "tickle the innards" of the enemy.

I can't say I blame ya, it looks like a real nice piece. Those glamour shots are CRISP!

Around $250 and TFW has a really good reputation, at least on the forum here. And as a dagger, less to go wrong as far as blade stiffness, and they come sharp, so no upcharge. Second hand is always better though, but I doubt these come up very often.

Some beautiful work- particularly around the ricasso region. I imagine it must be a real challenge to emulate the kind of fine shapes seen on historical blades with machine tools. I love the construction method also- it's like a jigsaw puzzle almost. Does anyone know why the guard/base blade portion was made out of a separate piece? I always assumed it was to save blade steel but from the way older pieces corrode it looks to be the same stuff. Take care, Andrew and the team at Kailash
