Recently picked up what I think is a Qing Dao. Looks like it has a hamon (not sure of the Chinese word). Any thoughts regarding aging this?

Thanks! I found it locally at a tag sale, the guy (in his mid 20's) said his father gave it to him when he was a kid.

There are a couple of things that lead me to believe it is a reproduction. However, I’m not an expert. If it is a genuine period piece, it will be valuable, and likely worthy of the cost to establish its authenticity. Peter Dekker is an authority on such matters, and occasionally engages with the wider public. I would suggest contacting him. For a fee, he might get you pointed in the right direction. mandarinmansion.com/servicesYou might also try contacting Scott Rodell. His interests seem to be focused on somewhat different subjects, but he may know of other useful resources. www.grtc.org/Good hunting!
