I'm sure some of you have heard but if you haven't, Cavill leaving Witcher. I was going to comment in the RoP vs HoD thread as to what happens when writers start leaving the source material. Apparently, a lot of the writers never really liked the source material though Cavill was an avid book and game fan. Tbh, I only played a bit of the 3rd game and haven't read the books either. Since I've never read the books, I had no idea how stuff was changed in the 1st and 2nd season. They are also doing a prequel series after Season 3 and Season 4 going to Liam Hemsworth. personally, I don't think ppl are gonna like Liam much. someone did mention a lot of writers don't like being limited by the source material but usually what happens when they put their own spin on it is that it goes to semprini fast.

It's disappointing for sure, HC was a great Geralt. I've heard that some of the writers were not fans of the source material and wanted to take the story in a new direction but I did also read that that information came from a former writer on the show who was fired early on in the series, so I'm taking it all with a grain of salt.

Meh.
Season 1 was a boring slog to get through, but had one or two good parts. Season 2 was better, at least it had a better formed storyline. But that's it for me. I don't really care to see Season 3 as I've lost all interest in the story by this time.
And Cavill leaving the show? Doesn't matter. The character of Geralt is irrelevant to the story. If you take him out, everything still happens- he literally has no impact on the storyline (whatever that may be). You can put any schmo in a white wig and tell him to grunt once in a while and nobody would know the difference, least of all any of the other characters in the Witcher's world.

I dont blame him, writing and some of the other casting choices were pretty bad. He knew this, probably felt the stinkeye the people in charge were giving the source material and jumped ship, better to play superman than be tied to another dying videogame adaptation

this.
his reputation and demand right now are very high but a bad movie, usually 2, will shitcan a career fast.
a bad movie that makes money can still hurt but a bad movie that doesn't, can shittcan it pronto
even if a movie isn't "bad', 2 movies in a row that bomb will tank an actor's prestige from starring roles to support stars or TV

He knew this, probably felt the stinkeye the people in charge were giving the source material and jumped ship, better to play superman than be tied to another dying videogame adaptation it was actually a book, and the writers on the show were constantly mocking and believing they could do a better job with writing them than the original author. This is the state of all modern TV shows. It's why I don't watch them. It's full of bitter blue haired creeps who hate the source material. I have no desire to see adaptations of source material I love, rewritten by blue hairs who hate the source material. Same goes for house of dragons and rings of power

Well, yes, of course bad writers ruin all kinds of entertainment. Most modern cinema is just a CGI overload with lots of flashing lights and pretty colors, but zero substance. 5 minutes after the end of a movie or show , you can't describe what the story was about, and 10 minutes later you can't remember any of the character's names or recall who they are. (Notice that I said "who", not "what" they are).
