Okay so I finally got around to fiddling with the deco pieces I got from Brian of DBK and mounting some gems. The first one is a bloodstone cab ![](http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm145/coldnapalm/Bloodstone.jpg) And this one is a faceted moonstone. Quite a bit bigger then the ones in my gen 2 black prine scabbard. ![](http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm145/coldnapalm/Moonstone.jpg) So tell me what you guys think?

Bleh! That's all girly stuff! lol
Actually that's pretty cool. I'm not much of a western weapon guy but embellishments are always a nice personal touch if they're not taken overboard.

I think they look really good. It would certainly be a nice added touch for many decor pieces. That green one in particular is appealing to me, and would look fantastic with a traditional green grip.

I've picked up some Mystic Topaz which is a spectacular stone. I'm hanging on to it for the right sword, but they will be going in a sword. Yeah, I'm into gems in swords. ![](http://marketplaceadvisor.channeladvisor.com/hi/70/69665/roundcon2.2.jpg) And they actually do look like that in the hand.

Yes mystic topaz is pretty. The only thing is you have to be careful with em since the color isn't exactly stable. Although I prefer a nice alexandrite...but considering that cost probably 1000x more then mystic topaz, I think going with that isn't a bad idea. My favorite is actually clear moonstone with blue sheen. That is what is in my gen 2 black prince actually in the 5mm size. The larger one in this pic is a milky white moonstone with blue sheen...which is sadly cheaper then one of the smaller ones ![:P](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) . Clear moonstones with blue sheens are bloody expensive...sigh.

Your right about the alexandrite... I DO prefer it... but your also right about it being a LOT more expensive then mystic topaz. ![:-/](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png)

Get a rock tumbler, you turn crappy stones into beautiful stones! Lol. Like rubies for example, I have a few low quality rubies, real messy looking, but you can polish them up and make them look really nice.

hehe, it was consider low quality because it lacked the right depth for the raspberry color in the green/red transition. You have to realize however that this little "low" quality gem cost about twice as much as a VS clarity, H color diamond of the same size. It wasn't cut badly or any of that sort. Alexandrite is VERY expensive.

That one is 12mm across (1/2") I stalked it on ebay and got it for $9.
My dad tought me how to cut opals when I was 11. He's got all the gear. He used to buy jars of good rough, and give me the mediocre bits to practice on. I reckon I was better at it than he was.

Hey that's a really good price for a mystic topaz...assuming it's topaz based. Funny thing is that mystic topaz technically doesn't have to be made from topaz. Some are made from quartz and called mystic topaz. And yes, this did play a big role in the current state of disfavor this gem suffers from.

I do collect minerals and stones.
On ebay you can purchase some gem. I did once at a shop called XYZ stones for a huge 5 cts alexandrite...of course it's a synthetic one, a non natural stone with all the same properties. It costs around...1$ plus shipping.
