I was saving up for a nice pair of shoes, but if these turn out as well as I suspect they will I may be in trouble…

This is one way to get a discontinued Windlass Coustile (or two) lol! Nice they look great, now all you need is a belt with two cross fitted scabbards to sneakily draw them from your cloak and do the deed!

looks good
short swords make much more sense for a Rogue. Never cared for the rule sets that decided Rogues should be carrying rapiers.

Sharp blades are good to have, if Shire-folk go walking, east, south, far away into dark and danger.

Nice! A deserving set up for the brooding, enigmatic rogue. I'm thinking Fritz Leiber's Mouser...

Oh, no disagreement there. But for Ocean Kestrel, the Rogue (subclass swashbuckler) nothing but his trusty rapier, Stabby McPokerson will do! All derailing aside, I really am looking forward to how these turn out. I have been debating either trying to find the "New Coustille" on the secondary market or getting custom done. If these turn out, I may have to get a couple as well. (Assuming that you're good with that, Eric)

that's looking to be a great pair of short swords. I have 2 blades from his shop and love them both.
I will be starting a short sword re-build at some point with the old MRL/DelTin short sword I bought in the classifieds here. I will make a new grip from stabilized wood (either ash or poplar) and give it a leather wrap (probably with risers and maybe cord under the leather). Then I will build a wood-cored scabbard to fit (once I find a good source of 100% wool felt for the lining). Your new swords have been quite an inspiration.

Thanks Eastman, yeah between these and my new ranger sword that I am getting from him I am really excited for them to arrive.

Very nice blades. I love the scabbard work. Is the ribbing actually modeled into the leather with risers between the wood core and the leather as is usually done, or is it seperatly attached on top of the leather scabbard cover? I ask because it looks awesome and almost tubular with rounded edges, which would seem really difficult if the leather was molded over risers.

Man, if I was you, I would keep them all together. When the longs word gets dull, after slaying hoards of orcs, you switch to your two short swords. Not that orcs are real, but neat concept anyway. Or perhaps they can be like... Legolas fighting knives. Pretty sure elves originally had straight European style swords (or they did in the animated movie that came before it anyway, I think)

Shawn I would have to double check with the smith who made them but I believe it is modeled into the the leather with risers between the wood and leather.

Yeah, elves had straight swords in lotr I'm pretty sure.
They made their single edged and curved in the films for some reason.
I do think the hadhafang design is kinda neat though.
I saw an old review of the windlass coustille that someone mentioned it being like what Legolas probably carried in the professors imagination. I think it was white handled as well.
These look really good for a concealed fighting sword, or archers sword.
