Yay! I got it today and I see what is meant by "whippy" now.
I kinda goofed around and thrust it into the box it came in and hacked at the box even after putting random things inside and it still went in without too much difficulty:D
I'm happy with this purchase:D
And yea... I'm not a big fan of the scabbard... Is there anywhere out there that sells good scabbards that aren't an arm and a leg?
Ok... off topic about this particular blade, but does anyone know of any good Kukri knives out there? I have always wanted one of those as well.

Hey Edvvard, I have a kukri I got many years ago from Atlanta Cutlery (Which is the same as Windlass, where your new sword came from) 1/4 inch thick and Windlass is the official government contractor for the Kukri. I was happy with it and they're only like $40. They have antique ones to from $60-$150. Check 'em out... www.museumreplicas.com

Ok, I like the looks of the sword, the weight, everything....
Now maybe I should have asked before, but how do I sharpen it and are there certain ways to use it?
I have been thrusting with it a lot recently... i set a half filled powerade bottle on a stand outside and went out the other side:D
I started sharpening it with one of those sharpening tools like the accusharp, but can't get a razor edge to go through one of those bottles like i see in the videos... i just use the accusharp... so maybe that's not the best way to go?... what am i doing wrong and how can i do it right?

STOP!!!!!!!
Don't use one of those "accusharp" thingys to sharpen your sword.
I use a file and an old, old stone that belonged to my father (best stone I've ever seen or used). Take care when sharpening, safety first of course....use even strokes on both sides of both edges. I keep my stone well oiled too when putting the final tweek on the edge after knocking down the initial edge with a file.
Do a search on sharpening on SBG as well.....seems most everyone has their own method....
Again, personally...stay clear of the "accusharp" deals.
Also, the Powerade bottles are tough buggers to cut (I still trouble with them from time to time).....if you haven't done alot of cutting ...may I suggest working on milk jugs to get your form and edge aligment more in control.
Cheers,
Bill

Thanks:D
Will just any file do or will I need a special type?... I have a stone, but I'm not sure if it's the right. It's sort of like a square stone... that will do right?

Well your gonna want a really low grit one the inital sharpening and a medium/fine for honeing and keeping the edge sharp. Any file for metal use will work. Also something like the DMT hand held stones do make sharpening a LOT easier. budk.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_40+DTFWFCI have heard good things about the lansky sharpening system as well. For a cheap option however, I just use the puck stone. Not as easy to use as the DMT ones, but I find it works pretty well. Better then trying to a table stone in hand anyways. budk.com/product.asp?pn=40%20LS03700However, you will still need a metal file for the intial shaping of the edge. Or a belt grinder if you don't care about a secondary bevel.

Thanks:D I got it sharp after finding my dads old file and using my table stone... the file helped a lot:D
Cutting is so fun also. cut up a milk jug, just need to work on some technique... tips on that?
I want to find my perma blue now so I can try to do what Bill did to his to mine. After that I think I may just mess with the handle, then get a new scabbard... where can I get scabbard for it btw? I don't like the windlass one.
