I am in the market for a nice buckler that if I had to go back in time and survive with it, it would hold up to defending me. Anyone point me in the right direction for one?

The GDFB bucklers are pretty good, especially if you are up to changing the handle to a solid wood one. The shield face is durable as heck
Of course, the cold steel polypropylene ones will resist rotting and supposedly can block a hatchet.

I can attest to the toughness of the cold steel ones. Years of use at SCA practices, blocking wasters and such.

I have a GDFB that I bought from KoA years ago. It’s 12” and of 14 ga. steel and a good one. Since then, CS has come out with their poly propylene buckler. While what I have is a good one of more traditional design it is noisy and will rust. The polypropylene should offer neither issue and I’ve heard good reports on it.
