I would love to join in but I haven't been able to even cut anything for ages. I'm surprised more people here haven't tried this tho

I'm down for such a fun challenge. I'll perform one with a Cold Steel Brooklyn Whopper next time I have a cutting session. For now, let us recall to the time when a vendor graciously sent me 3 swords for review, including the one in question which is a complete flat bar of iron that has a shallow bevel and a completely blunt "edge". It's basically an iron rod, so I guess it should qualify as a blunt force implement for this challenge. As you can see here, it batted bottles around nicely, and the sheer pressure caused the bottom to burst open without causing any breakage anywhere else on the bottle (to quote Doug Marcaida--"it will NOT cut"). drive.google.com/file/d/1Dnd5UqOtWARHtinb-RDLGtEMc1SCrcgD/view?usp=sharing Here's another example: hit right in the middle, and the bottom burst open nicely, just like Brother Nathaniel's example. drive.google.com/file/d/1TGzCASUc46T3jjjFiBMkG_NICV5Cfu3f/view?usp=sharingHere's a more comical one. The bottle didn't burst when the "sword" hit it, but it flew away nice to collide with a rock and cracked a bit before proceeding to fly back to hit me precisely in the big toe. I'm grateful that it didn't heat seeking target my other body parts. drive.google.com/file/d/1gxF3qhCfHwSmfIz0QGP0pPu7-ekb6c0_/view?usp=sharingBut you might ask: hey do you even know how to cut? Maybe you are just a tool in the backyard. Well to that end, I'll show you my cutting a few seconds later with an actual sword (also sent by the same kind vendor, probably made somewhere in Longquan). drive.google.com/file/d/1LK4NQTTAFMyqSxNHhUCKxL_mdQyGjug2/view?usp=sharingdrive.google.com/file/d/16SHJhIO9wfKf7V5Ym-Xg0NesFy00FlY9/view?usp=sharingSuffice to say, I didn't review that "sword" particular publicly, but wrote them a private assessment detailing each problem (there are probably a dozen of them) and how to fix it. That vendor are nice people, and I have no desire trashing their product publicly. The other 2 swords I happily reviewed and found them to be excellent products.

This sounds pretty fun. So, any regulations on type of plastic? Physical windup? And by physical windup, I'm not referring to anything as unique as this (should play at 5 min mark):

This reminds me a bit of tanren you occasionally see in Aikido dojo. Basically, it is a tire supported in a frame (usually wooden) which you use as a practice target for your cuts. The trick was your strike must collapse the tire inward, not bounce off, BUT your control over the bokken/suburito must be such that when then tire rebounds to its normal shape your equipment does not bounce, but stays nicely on the surface. That is harder than you'd think. A proper strike as a nice THUMP-pop sound. A poor strike is audible to all. Pretty decent DIY tanren uchi project here: www.aikido-reading.co.uk/how-i-built-my-tanren-uchi/

I don’t have time to mess with that now but in the past I’ve blown plastic bottles due to non-compressibility of water. I can’t remember with what now. However, more often than not in those cases I’ve blown the tops off. I’ve got a video somewhere of that happening and in that case I heard it land on the roof.

I see a whole lot of posting, guys, but not a whole lot of photos or videos though! I'd gladly donate some of my footage to others. One for each poster, and I still have some more to spare.

I'm looking for the file of a friend who hit a 2l out of the back yard and pegged the neighbors dog. The dog tried to catch it...failing hilariously. And the bottle -of course- didn't break.
I think he used an Albion Templar with a stock edge and crappy alignment.

So far we got Brazil, USA and Canada representing. Where is everyone else though? Don't forget me, Costa Rica. I remember vaguely blowing a hole through the top with something, I think. I should like to point out that I am a fan of stick fighting and used them frequently in testing, and did not necessarily use a blade with poor edge alignment.

I'm in. The handle on the wooden sword I'm using is basically completely round, so my edge alignment isn't so great here. Luckily for blunt force impact, that isn't too important. :D

Hello Pgandy, for clarity. Did the strike with the cane involve the head striking the bottle or the shaft? I was trying for the shaft, the head was acting as a weight. I figured the smaller shaft increased the PSI in the impact area.

So it went down like this...i dont have a supply of 1L plastic bottles....these gonna have to suffice until i finish this 2L coke w rum tonight.... The last nice days are upon us northerners outside the city walls. I set about the chores of the season and took a break to enjoy the BFC. I like smashing stuff so...why not? All strikes were near horizontal. First hit went great, the blunt round back of the axe flattening and popped the top off the target. Second not so much. The head of the axe went behind me on the backswing and into the neighbouring lot. The waterbottle survived by default. Third hit was shaft only. The force of the shaft hitting the bottle was too much(wtf? ?)...no...but the followthrough brought the shaft into contact with a deck stile...just a glacing blow, mind, but enough. I was thinking that though ive flattened 2 bottles, i have not "split" one. Sadly, i was about to submit myself for disciplinary action before the local Lodge chapter I didnt count on the iron butterfly. The flail-like action of he leatherbound little semprinier slashed open the plastic. I believe this qualifies eh? Fig 0.0 the victims Fig 0.1 weapon of choice--blunt side rather than axe side Fig 0.2 wedge and shaft failure. Fig 0.3 shaft failure Fig 0.4 something blunt this way comes and was left behind in the bottle Fig 0.5 iron butterfly tassles are a killer.

Nice! but Brother Ouro, you already know you were part of the lodge simply due to your mystical abilities and being the wielder of THE FANG. It wasn't too long ago that you brought the fire-storm down on the demonic feline puppet master. Hahaha good times along the mystical path. But...One must still represent, Good Brother.

It's just a typical Lodge standard. We have other standards too. Being able to one-arm press the 2.5 "pood" (Old Russian measurement) 88-90lb kettlebell preferably with little to no leg drive. 35lb kettlebells are not allowed in the gymnasium at all. Well, we might have one of those in the women's section. 👍
I am confused. What exactly is a one arm press? Or rather, which variant do you mean, exactly?

Ah yes ok, I saw both front one arm presses like that and also side one arm presses.

The doors have been closed. No others have shown themselves brave or mighty enough to accomplish the challenge. They shall forever hold their peace. At least until next time. Thanks to everyone that gave it a try for 2022. damn was just about to submit war maul vs milk jug (didnt have softdrink bottle) oh well here it is for fun anyway split bottle, blew cap off way too much fun lol
