Yeah, I know GGK, but I'd like something larger like a short sword and Purna can get expensive at larger sizes. There was a Gurkha kukhri on Kult for under $90, but it's a little thick in the blade. What inspired this was the kopis just posted for sale (you know who you are) but both the kopis and kukhri in that sale look amazing! Never thought I needed one until I saw them. But I think Purna makes 18" kukhri for under $150 so maybe I should just go with him. My main thing is I don't know the difference between all of them and there's a LOT on his site, but you never know why the difference in prices. Some are indicated as having full tangs. Does that mean the others don't? I know handle materials have an effect.
So I guess I just need a beginners guide kukhri terminology and how to separate the difference varieties on his site. There's 16 pages of weapons on there. I wish he'd have another way to list them by blade size.

Yeah, that's the thread! That kopis looks amazing, but not in my budget! The kukhri looks nice too, but still, ouch. Trying to keep it under $200.

On the search bar, you can type the size you want like ' 18" ' or ' 21" ' (I think it is the longest length on his site). I also wonder what Purna would do for under 200$ (price is indeed a constraint too). Khukuris aren't traditionally what we might call "full tang" but let me quote Kailash Blades on the subject :

Ended up with this one, which is fantastic and I love! May eventually end up getting the falcata from GGK as well. Attachments:

I have a couple falcata from GGK, with a third on the way. I got them second-hand. To me, the build quality is high for the price.
They are heavy choppers for sure. Good balance and relatively fast in the hand. Confident but strenuous recovery. Sharp. Intimidating. Very tough steel.
They seem made for a long lifetime of camp and hunt duties. Chopping wood or zombies: no problem. Hacking underbrush all day: you better have Conan arms.
So, yeah, get one!

was the kopis a custom or a standard model? looks really good to me. I like one of the EGKH kopis on KoA, but the scabbard would need some re-work 'cause I hate the fake-leather metallic effect on the frog.

The kukhri sword was a custom I got on SBG last month from William. It's got buffalo horn handles and brass detail inlay on the blade and full tang. Thick blade stock but very sharp and nimble as heck. I saw there's a basic model on KoA with wood handles and none of the details. I also saw the one with the fake metallic frog and, yes, I agree....it has to go.

I saw those and was looking at the far right one, but I have a kukri knife already. I think the falcata is different enough to merit me acquiring one....eventually.

Fair enough :) I do have a short sword Kukri, blade almost 16" but again it's still a kukri but I understand wanting a falcata as it is different enough :)

Who's it made by? 16" sounds like a nice size...I just don't need another dagger. As a man once said, "I'm not a gynecologist, but I'll take a look."
