and having my fear of machetes, the Kraton grip and room for a lanyard makes me feel a whole lot safer. Haha I get it ;D . I don't see why you have a fear of machetes, you did it to yourself, the machete didn't do it to you.

I have one of those. The handle is very secure, especially if your hands are wet. But I think that a small camp hatchet is better for most jobs than this Ontario "machete". If I need to do something that requires a machete, I use my machete. My Ontario has been setting in the garden and hasn't been used for over a year. In other words, IMHO I think that this tool fills no real purpose.

I have heard pretty good things about the other Machetes by Ontario, but I've never actually heard anything about this one until now. Thanks.

Nah. You need one of these: ![](http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee149/brennyo2/FalchionAll-1.jpg) Or if you really want the shorter blade: ![](http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee149/brennyo2/ElvenDirkAll-1.jpg)

I just realized that I live about 20 minutes from the Ontario Cutlery but I have never been there... Well, I know I'm doing this weekend!
