Hy guys, so I've had this sword for around 1.5 years now, and thought I'd test its capabilities and post a small review on here. This sword costs anywhere from 50 to 70 dollars on sites like kult of athena and trueswords. The blade is very meh. It looks more like a dao than it does a katana. They didn't even bother counter polishing a kissaki on, but then again it is a 50 dollar sword, so you can't expect much. The fit and finish out of the box was ok, and the saya fit was actually quite excellent. No rattles, habaki fit almost perfectly, was pleasently surprised. It handles ok, with a nagasa of 27 inches and tsuka of around 10.5 inches.
Destruction
Please note I had hit it against some concrete beforehand, which resulted in the second mekugi breaking.
This surprisingly I was unable to break, albeit I had limited resources and managed to reduce it to an unusable state. The first thing to go was the tsuka ito, as the note holding the tsukamaki broke after a few sakaboto hits against a tree. The blade saw severe deformation from strikes against a rock, and eventually resulted in catastrophic chipping(visible in photo album). I also decided to do something I haven't seen anyone else do before, and test the capabilities of the saya to parry. I'm the album, I uploaded a video of this. First thing I did was one handed strikes while holding the saya. This resulted in some light surface cut marks, but the saya was still usable. Then, I propped it on my cutting stand, and did an Itto ryu draw cut on it, which as you can see, cut about half way into it(probably would've cut through it had it not fallen off the stand) conclusion: only use this saya to parry a one handed strikes lol. After a few more abusive strikes, to my surprise, the tsuka split in half. Also another final thing of note is that the nakago actually isn't that bad. It even has some form of yasurime, although done very sloppily(hanbon take notes lmao)
Overall, this sword is a pretty good value, and as long as you aren't looking for something traditional, and does what it's supposed to: cut stuff. Also the most fun I had with it was when I was trying to destroy it.
