I goofed up and somehow mnged to put this in the archeyr board. I must really been sleep t the helm there. Any ways I just wondered if nyone hd seen a thingamaiggy like this. It sort looks like it's supposed to resemble a kopesh. Some one commented in the archery thread that it's a Klingon wepon. LMAO I suppose it could be. I got it in a scratch and dent mystery box and I reckon I'm mystified. The two items I paid for both were rather disappointing. That's the last mystery box I buy. The flaw that landed this thing in the junk el cheapo bin is that het treating flaw in the close up. I figger a solid whack against a gnarly piece of dead brush would cause loud ping clang and and I'd have two pieces of scrap to toss in my scavenge scrap for projects. But the design is ...interesting. Someone in Pa kistn got into the hash that day maybe.

My dude, it is 100% a Klingon mek'leth, no doubt about it. Might as well embrace it, put on some spikey leather space armor, and go challenge your neighbors to an honorable blood duel.

Yes indeed. haha. I'm a Star Trek fan too so you'd think I would have seen that. I reckon I could make a conversation piece out of it easy enough. I'm stuck with it so I may as well embrace it like you said. It wouldn't have been my first choice if I got to pick what went in the mystery box deal but it was one of those wth I'll roll the dice and see what I get sort of things. I went with the toofer deal and the second piece is even worse. Plastic cutaway saya rat tail tang stainless (soft stainless) SLO. It's totally unsharpened so I maybe could modify it into a semblance of an iaito. But it's nowhere near the correct weight and proportions to be practice piece for my real katana. The blade is actually more close in size to something like an 1860 light cavalry saber. Though it's hardly anything I'm proud to own here's pic of it. The notion of embracing this one I'm finding...dificult. But that's what I get for gambling. (face palm)

Makes me very glad I bought my "Mystery Box" from KoA instead of one of these.
You now have two wall-hangers for the "Wall of Shame".

You think I'd know better. The odds always favor the house. I guess they're pretty smart though. Suckering folks into getting rid of the scrap for them and even paying for shipping.

I'm thinking about starting a "wall of shame" in my basement workshop area. The KoA Mystery Box will contribute 2 entries from Deepeeka - the Turkish Fantasy sword and the Viking Broad Sword. At least the KoA box also had a few really nice items.

I think I'm done with mystery boxes. From now on I will know exactly what it is I'm buying and will have a specific purpose in doing so. Just cuz I want it is a good enough purpose.

Didn’t think small pits affect integrity unless there’s something else I can’t see there. Would be interested to see how it actually holds up to a medium amount of abuse

Right at the base there's a dark line about a 1/4 inch wide that goes all the way around the blade. It can be seen in the spine and the edge grind as well. That little pit didn't concern me so much. Discolorations like that do send up red flags for me though. I don't have any plans to use the thing anyway. I might carve it up and make something else with it though. What I don't know but I might come up with something.

The question is: Is it heat treated at all? My bat'leth isn't I assume. Some of the tips/spikes were a bit misshaped and very easy to correct with a file.

I saw a bunch of stuff like that in Germany at the Klingenmuseum in Soligen.
