Hello all, I thought I’d start a thread introducing myself as a new member of the community!
My name is Kyle, and after almost thirty years of interest in Japanese culture and swords I am finally getting to the point in my life of being able to procure some. Being the personality type I am, that consisted of spending the past couple of months doing research. And BOY, have things changed! When I was in college in 2000, myself and a friend had heard about some swords being made in Japanese style, but coming out of China. Didn’t research much, as the cost for college kids was much too high, as was the concerns about Chinese quality and reliability. Fast forward to now, and it seems like the swords coming out of Longquan have really stepped up their game. I’ve been lurking here reading articles, threads, and reviews for the past month, and while it seems sometimes there’s a hit-or-miss factor, the blade construction is miles ahead of what was being produced two decades ago (mall ninja stainless steel “swords”)! Anyway, I just thought I’d introduce myself to you all! I look forward to discussions with, and accruing more knowledge from all of you!

Thirty years ago Id've killed for the resources & knowledge readily available now. Heck, even the arguments are more enlightening than the crickets & radio hiss you'd hear when trying to find out about this stuff back then.
Welcome!

Welcome aboard. I'm fairly new to this forum myself but not really new to swords. I've finally lately had extra money I didn't have for a while and I've bought three good quality T10 and a 9260 sword in just the last month. I plan on ordering another katana next week Lord willing and the river don't rise. I've stripped and re fitted 5 swords that had good blades and meh furniture and after my new kat gets here I'll be doing #6 with the Shikoto Touchstone on top of my daisho I plan on doing some really detailed work to it. now. Everything I currently own is a $300.00 blade.
That grade of sword seems to be working well for me. At any rate good to have you here and all the best.
