It seems like Deepeeka is releasing a new batch of swords into the market that they call their 2022 series. They have a Xiphos now, a counterpart to Albion's Squire Line 15th Century Bastard Sword and a Katzbalger. There are quite a couple of bastard swords. Are their quality better than past swords and do you think their Landsknecht Katzbalger can be sharpened or is it pretty impossible to do with its build? I checked on YouTube and the build seems really thick, idk. Also they made steel editions of the Khopesh and NAUE II. See their recent videos, oldest being 3-4 months back from now www.youtube.com/c/deepeeka/videosShould also be more info on their main website: www.deepeeka.com/

Wow, a lot of those look great! I wonder how they'll handle though... One of the videos mentioned that Deepeeka had been trying to take advice from feedback, specifically regarding weight and balance. A lot of the swords shown used 5 mm stock... Assuming Deepeeka doesn't do distal taper on these models, I wonder how 5 mm all the way through would handle? Also, is 5 mm any thinner than the usual Deepeeka stock?

Sharp blades are good to have, if Shire-folk go walking, east, south, far away into dark and danger.

Deepeeka still has QC issues. The Italian Warhammer I just received yesterday is very different from what was pictured in the ad on Kult of Athena. I realize the ad says the haft may be a different color, which sucks because I really prefer the darker wood, so I guess I was warned, but the ad also specifically states brass rivets: “This 14th Century Italian Warhammer is fitted with a pronged and spiked head of high carbon steel. Long side langets are riveted into place with embellished brass rivets.” My rivets are not brass. I understand this is not a high end product, but they should at least make what they SAY they’re going to make a stick to it, not this random “Let’s see what we have on the shelf today” approach. I’m disappointed with the overall look of it, and not even mentioning (well I guess I am now) the rough cut work on the langets. They’re even on the KoA photo sample, but if you look at mine it’s more narrow at the top portion, then widens about halfway down. The last rivet isn’t close to centered and there’s a point on the curve at the bottom. Nit picky, but it’s just shoddy workmanship. Is it that difficult to follow a template and make something straight with a curve?

I’ve not got a 2022 sword, but did grab a Deepeeka Lubeck www.kultofathena.com/product/lubeck-arming-sword/ last year when it came out. I modified it a lot, but I really love it. It’s not light, but it’s not bad. I saw Matthrew Jensen review their Castillon from last year and it faired not so well. The crossguard snapped off. My crossguard has taken some rough handling, and I’ve used a file to reshape it but no problems. The Castillon crossguard is more uniquely shaped so they may have cast it to save effort. Thickness on mine is 4.2 mm - 3.1 mm
