Recently ordered three blades from Wes. I’m head over heels in love with his work. Incredible swords and incredible craftsmanship. I’ve received 2 and the third is being made. All have their roots in LOTR. Two elvish short swords and an elvish knife to top it all off. Man these blades make me want to hunt some orcs.
I’ll add some pictures when I get the chance but just wanted a place to boast about how great Wes and his swords are. Seriously good guy to order from. He’s always corresponding and giving updates and honestly charges way too little for the quality of work he does.
If you need some elvish swords that can actually do something more than look nice, go to him.
Post pictures when you can! I have a elvish dagger from him and another one about to arrive and I absolutely love his work. Will probably be getting more from him soon.

Pictures on the way soon! Just gotta find the time!
Took me long enough but was hiking and wanted to wait to have them both back. Two absolute beauties!!! I love these swords. One is a 19-20 inch long 1095 beast. I specifically asked Wes to make these swords absolutely as strong and durable as possible and he didn’t let me down. Thick 1/4 inch steel yet still they are agile and fit wonderfully in my hand. The second sword is a 21 inch 80CRV2 sword. This one is long and still made out of 1/4 inch thick steel. It’s long and a little heavier than the 1095 but still very light and agile feeling.
One of the things I love about these swords is the edge and tip. Both tips are reinforced and seem to get slightly more beefier as you get towards the end. They taper then beef up right before the tip. This seems to give it a lot of supper when thrusting. If I was going to have my back against a wall against anything I’d want these two swords.
Pros: Durability, you know your getting a tested and solid blade by a well known and reputable smith. Originally what drew me to his swords was the thread he posted about his heat treat. Seeing him test his blades by smacking them against logs and steel barrels had me convinced quickly haha. He actually sent me videos of him testing my sword to show the durability and heat treat was spot on. You can’t find that easily. I also love the design of the blades and the fit in the hand. A lot of times on these overbuilt modern blades they lack balance but Wes seems to build these just right for me.
One thing to note is that typically these blades are made to order so delays in materials and forging can occur. This isn’t a “push a button get a cookie” shop. The wait isn’t horrible but it’s not instant. I averaged 6 weeks between ordering and getting the blades. Another thing that I don’t like about this shop is every time I order one, I end up wanting to order more. I’m gonna have to start selling kidneys to fund this addiction.
Ordered a knife from him not too long ago, will update you guys when that comes in. This one is coming with a sheath!
nerdthenord: Hi, I'm still alive. Doing well again all things considered

mrstabby: Mine gets pressed to the top as well, but that way the tip gets ground of, don't like that either. Unfortunately I'm an edge-perfectionist. Also one wrong move when unsheathing and the throat nicks the edge on either side.

AndiTheBarvarian: Perhaps I've got one from the batch for Matt Easton ?!?

AndiTheBarvarian: When I draw the saber it's automatically pressed with the spine to the scabbard so there's space for the edge to not touch the scabbard. When the false edge starts it's released but can be carefully draw completely without touching the scabbard.

AndiTheBarvarian: Too little gap for a needle, so also I see no way to get the glue in.
Mar 31, 2024 8:02:34 GMT
mrstabby: I was easily able to poke through the glue on all of my Windlass swords/daggers, then it just seems to wick in forever, it never was thick. I can't imagine how there isn't any dulling though, unless yours is less wide or the scabbard is bigger.

AndiTheBarvarian: There's not really an opening on mine, very good fit of guard and blade and some glue or epoxy in it. Since my scabbard doesn't dull the edge too I seem to be on the lucky side with Windlass this time.

mrstabby: Maybe it screams in pain now, but I like it..

mrstabby: PSA: Give your Windlass swords some superglue, they appreciate it. My 1796 drank 4g through the opening between guard and blade, now it rings much louder and vibrates much less.

mrstabby: "Sorry Mr. Johnson, I need to store my sword for a few hundread years until someone worthy comes and gets it, mind if I stick it here?"

AndiTheBarvarian: First you have to try getting it into!

mrstabby: What now, pulling a sword out of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson? Intriguing!
Mar 29, 2024 12:49:08 GMT
AndiTheBarvarian: Dwayne Johnson disagrees!

rschuch: As anyone who's seen Excalibur knows, getting the sword INTO the rock isn't the problem, it's getting it back out again.

durinnmcfurren: Movie turned out better than it had any right to be considering how many times a blade was shoved into rock. Yes, even once would be too much, but it was way more than once.

Ramses1079: Yeah me too, which is a shame because he’s a good author. I guess that’s like when your favorite band releases a new album, and there’s always one or two tracks that you’re like “what were they thinking?”
