Some cutting practice with my Valiant Armoury/Angus Trim collaboration Vision Tauber. I'm trying to incorporate more master cuts into my repertoire, and have several attempts at zwerchau and schielhau in here. I'm also trying to improve my fluidity, allowing for better execution of cut combinations. Definitely a work in progress...

Very nice. Thanks for sharing this video. Perhaps your cutting would be better if you dressed the part? A tunic, feathered hat, and leggings perhaps? Jokes aside, I think you are on the right track. It's important to get the technique down correctly- when it's done right then the sword will cut effortlessly and feel light and maneuverable in the hand. (Do it wrong and you're putting a cold-pack on the shoulder after the workout). I found that the hardest part (for me) about a longsword is that it's actually a one-handed sword in which the other hand occasionally helps out. It's a departure mindset from the two-handed katana that I am familiar with which is occasionally a one-handed sword. It works opposite of what intuition would tell you it is. You have a nice pull-back at 0:38. This is very important for arresting the momentum of the blade. Every move has something similar to this. Perhaps focusing on stopping the blade at the end of the cut through body motion instead of brute strength will help you with the combinations becoming more fluid. And let the blade flow naturally through to the next position. Jean Baptiste showed me this when I was in Paris studying the Dan Dao. Nice sword though. Looks to be quite capable.
