Fairly inactive, Steve, I blame it on the katana types. I like a good gladius myself, don't really know much about the khopesh.

Hey how ya doin' Ric, such a coincidence, I was just reading your review of that gladius that cost 275 bucks. If I had that much to burn, I'd definitely buy it!
Yeah, don't get me wrong, I love the katana and all.. but as a sword.. 1-3 is enough.. I mean it's just.. one sword. A beautiful, deadly piece of genius, but .. after awhile they all tend to look the same.
Same with Medieval swords .. which is why I've expanded my horizons and obsessed myself with weaponry of the bronze age. I highly recommend you read up on the khopesh, it's a beautiful, DEADLY EFFECTIVE, ancient weapon, the ancestor of all curved swords ..
And at 60 pounds, you can't go wrong with ordering one from a tride and tested guy. ;]

Steven: khopesh are quite beautiful and something that is much like a khopesh is the canaanite sickle sword which I also really like. I too am interesting in different weapons from all civilizations although I do prefer useable weapons. The only katanas I am going to get is the kokoro ichi because being apart of this forum so long I would like to own a piece of memorabilia, also the only other katana will be an iaito for swordsmanship practice. I much prefer things like axes and rapiers and really ancient weapons, minoan, I've always wanted a minoan sword made out of bronze as that is what their swords were made out of. Do you know the size of that khopesh? I have seen Khopesh from a guy in australia who also does the canaanite sickle sword I spoke of. Long live the ancient weapons, may they never fade from memory nor be destroyed by the ravages of time, we need a few hardcore guys who can keep the old swords alive.

I like the look of the bronze leaf shaped blades. I intend to get some eventually. The khopesh hasn't really appealed to me as yet, that doesn't mean it won't at some point. One of my favorite swords at present is one I thought was ugly as hell when I first saw it.

Wraith, it's the KC teutonic, I just hated the hilt on that thing for the longerst time. Finally bought one cause it was on sale, I rather like the look now and it's a cutters dream.

I agree with you Ric, if it wasnt of Brian reshaping the whole thing i wouldnt have bought the teutonic, but i'm glad i did it ! As for the Kopesh or a canaanite type sword i would really like to get my hands on one. Those displayed on the bronze-age site look quite good but the shipping cost are probably awful and i'm wondering how good is a bronze weapon like this since i have no experience at all with those.

Not more ?! Hmmm.. then i might give it a try. And how about bronze, how does it compare to carbon steel ( care, edge retention, durability ) ? Thanks for the info Bloodwraith !

Well I would not suggest you cutting with it even though you could if you wanted to, they are really display and shadow play weapons. They are very durable, even giving some steel swords a run for their money. Care I am not so sure about but I know that bronze doesn't rust, I believe that it oxidizes and goes green but is easy to polish back to standard. Edge retention, with the amount of tin in the blade it would retain its edge quite well.
I don't personally have experience with these blades but from what I have read and researched I personally am considering giving them a go.
Quoted from the bronze age craft page itself;

I too have been considering a bronze blade. I had been eyeing one from Deepeeka. It's good to another source added. Thanks, Steve, have a karma.

I remember a documentary where they banged a bronze sword against a steel one and the bronze one held up better than anticipated as both blades took the same amount of damage, which leads me to believe the bronze blade is not as weak as some people think. I want to get one of these and polish it up real nice as I think bronze is prettier than iron or steel. I would love that canaanite sickle sword though and the mycenean, he also does bronze axes.

I think that we definitly are interested in this, Skallagrim, you can tell Paul we would like to see how bronze weapons fare ! Those designs; both Kopesh and Canaanite swords are really starting to make me reconsider what i've promessed to my wife last month about not getting another sword before next year Anyhow, i hope one of us will jump on one of those soon ! Thanks again for the info Blood, its really appreciated !

I am seriously considering one of these I can tell you that much, I have spent years looking for a beautiful khopesh made of bronze and not only have I found one, but one that is reasonably traditional and is reasonably cheap, that is too cool!
