Hi Guys, Longtime lurker here. I recently took the plunge and got a custom Darksword Armory - the sage blade with the wolfsbane handle. It arrived with a bend and notch at the tip. After spending over $1400, I was really disappointed. I spoke to them, and essentially got "sorry, fix it yourself" as a reply. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there no recourse?

Sorry to hear of your bad experience.
DSA has been a bit of a controversial topic over the years.
Would you mind posting photos of your sword and the actual text of your communications? That will give folks an objective look at your experience.

Could you provide more details? Did the box have any evidence of damage during shipment?

If it really was damaged, they would either cover it or get it covered through shipping insurance. I got a blade from them once that had a bent tip too, but I just straightened it. Not uncommon during shipping and doesn't mean they did anything wrong; things happen, to ANY brand. But yes, they should cover either fixing it, or giving you the shipping insurance information to get reimbursed through.

I’ve NEVER had a GOOD experience with them. I’m not sure they even care about customer service in the slightest, they just want to get their hands on your money.

Hi Alex As per our email communication, we received your pictures (attached) of the tip damage. Unfortunately, there are certain things that are out of our control when it comes to courier companies. It is frustrating, and as a collector myself, I do understand where you are coming from. As expressed during our communication, the sword did pass a throughout quality control prior to shipping. Thankfully the damage is minor and easily fixable without any necessary tools; but we totally understand your frustration and disappointment, especially when shipping to the UK. We, too, were very unhappy with the issue. If you were in town, I would gladly fix the issue, but given that you are overseas, What we suggested was really the easiest and simply 5 minute fix to remedy the situation. While details were provided by email, I will post them here in case any collector needs to fix their swords. This is good for any type of steel. When there is a slight tip deformation or damage to some extent, this can be rectified with a sand paper sponge. Simply pass the sponge in downward motions towards the tip to file down the slight deformation in this case. This should not take longer than 5 minutes and will in no way affect your blades structural integrity. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. So that's the extent of the damage? It's irritating, and I respect another customer's right to express disappointment, but this is very minor. The inconvenience of using a small piece of sandpaper for five minutes or less is simply not comparable to the inconvenience of issuing refunds or making a return.

If I paid 1400 for a brand new piece I expect not to have to fix anything myself

If I drove a full hour to a nail salon to get acrylic nails put on because they are that good, and then some time later the nail split down the middle causing me significant pain, I would drive back to the salon and expect them to fix it. That scenario makes sense. I would also be disappointed that after driving an hour out of my way to get a great full set of nails, that this damage should occur due to the nail tech's error.
Conversely, if I got a little hanging edge on the end of the nail, something that catches on clothing and my skin, but is minor and superficial, would I drive all the way back to the salon and want a refund, or would I take out a nail file and fix the problem with a few strokes?
It simply does not make much sense to give a refund here, especially if the damage was done by the courier company.
I might add, from my experience, this kind of damage happens often.

I’ll be honest, I’m not disagreeing with the premise of fixing something yourself, I am incensed by the fact that it’s seems like he had no choice. Also, in my humble opinion he is spending Albion money for what I feel is an EBay sword. I had the “Sage” and thank the lord I bought it at KoA, Ryan took it back with no objections. I was very new to the hobby at the time, but I tell even then Darksword was semprini, again in my opinion.

I thought 1400 was for one of the pattern welded swords? But now that I look closer its for one of the regular ones with a swapped pommel, odd since u can literally buy both swords separate for less money then the one with swapped fittings

Did DSA insure it during shipping? I cannot imagine ANY seller shipping a $1400 item WITHOUT insurance. Thats absurd
