Sometimes I miss Randomnobody's old beer and other alcoholic liquids thread. Why not start a new one? If you tasted a good beer, wine or other spiritual beverages post it with a description. Here a special edition 1 lt. bottle of one of my favourite gins, The London N°1 Original Blue Gin. Unlike some other gins the N°1 is indeed blue, not the bottle. It's a mild gin with floral flavors... ... and it's BLUE! ROMULAN ALE !!! (With a Bird of Prey on the bottle label)

The best beer I ever had was at a local brewery during a company party. They had about 50 beers on the menu. The place was noisy and I can't hear well when there's a lot of background noise, so the barkeep said that their most popular flavors were "Fmfrkets, ahmgherals and belugiansh", so I ordered something random. Best. Beer. Ever. Citrusy, sweet with a bit of tang. Excellent, best beer I ever had... and I have no idea what the hell it was. The brewery closed 2 months later, so no chance of ever finding out what it was.

I’m not much of a beer drinker although in my day I had my share. Recently I’ve rediscovered beer and I’ve replaced my evening meal coffee (left over from breakfast) with a black beer seasoned with lime and salt, something I learned from the Mex but have learned to now omit the salt. I’m usually in bed in about two hours after supper and have found that I sleep better with the beer forgetting the coffee. The market ran out of my brand, Bavaria a local brand, and after switching to Modelo from Mexico , they ran out of that but has since restocked. While searching for a substitute I ran across a beer from Germany that was mixed with grapefruit juice 50/50. I couldn’t imagine such but being intrigued I bought. I love grapefruit but it’s hard to come by. That was quite good, the grapefruit dominating the beer in colour and taste. I restocked but the following time Modelo was back in stock. I find the black beer more satisfying but by no means will turn down the beer/juice combo and hope they don’t run out of that.

I don't drink much beer anymore. Sometimes 1/2 pint with dinner. I drink a few different types of Bavarian beer (of course) matching the meal. One is like Pilsener, one is like Irish red ale, sometimes Munich dark beer which is sweeter than English/US/Irish dark beers. I'm in Sober January in the moment but after that I will post pictures of bottles and filled glasses.

Hardly ever drink beer or wine any more, only spirits, since I discovered it was some weird reaction to yeast proteins that causes me to break out. (Pimply face is never fun, but really gets weird if you're in your 50s.)
Do miss the taste occasionally though, and on the non-alcoholic front Lagunitas hop water is, well, pretty delicious. Also makes an interesting quasi-beer cocktail when you mix it with whiskeys. (Rum ain't bad either.)
Also on the non-alcoholic front, I like a "Baby Bulldog," which is kind of like a Colorado bulldog: cream, sweetener, coffee, and cola.
Back to the alcoholic cocktail front I occasionally enjoy a Dead Nazi (Jagermeister and Goldschlager).
Then there's a Tony Quinn, named after screen legend Anthony Quinn: tequila and Irish Mist.
Also on the tequila front, it was about a decade ago that I discovered my long-thought secret about mixing tequila and cola (charro negro) is no secret south of the border. Funny story but in 1983, my freshman year in college,it was the inadvertant focus of a college party.
My mother and stepfather were gone on vacation, I threw a bash, and in the excitement forgot to go buy my own drinks first. A friend brought over some Two Fingers, and as I neither had lime nor wanted to be doing shots, mixed it with Pepsi all night.
Strutted around like I was so tough for guzzling something so nasty and impressing all my friends, when I was really thinking hey, this is actually pretty good.
In a similar vein, a bartender friend in Minneapolis and I came up with the Snark Bite a good decade back, trying to make a faux hipster drink that'd be nasty ... and failing. Salt rimmed glass, healthy splash of grenadine, tequila shot, and one or more dashes of Tabasco to taste. Turns out tequila, salty, sweet and hot do go together, go figure.
(We did make up a controversy about whether the "true" Snark Bite, qua hipster predilections, should be the roughest/cheapest or smoothest/highest shelf tequila though. ;) )

Actually, just had a Jagermeister and Dr. Pepper (6oz. Dr. Pepper & 1 1/2oz. Jag) last Saturday...pretty good. Also, since the holidays/seasonal) been having Eggnog & Rum (can also use whiskey).

Here I was thinking we were going to go openly religious, and I could enlighten you all regarding The Flying Spaghetti Monster... But I might contribute some expertise, after all. Best beer I've ever had is Dirty Bastard Scotch-style Ale, brewed by Founder's out of Grand Rapids, Michigan. 50 IBU, 8.5 % ABV. It makes me want to sing, and keeps my voice going, well after the third set. Of course, I can only finger basic chords after downing four, and I can't form coherent syllables after six, but my atavistic neolithic grunts and gurgles are still excitingly on-key.

This is one of my favourite beers, "Büble Bier" (little boy beer) from Allgäu, a Bavarian region. It's a hoppy pale ale, similar to Pilsener beer, tastes well with bratwurst and medium-strenght mustard. The label reminds me of my beloved late aunt who was fond of Hummel figurines.

I wonder how illegal it is to engage in spiritual cross-cultural activity by mail...

(Though Dr. Pepper sounds like it would strangely work, I'll have to try it. The Goldschlager's mint really kills a lot of the Jager nastiness. Though I'll say, I'm an enormous fan of powerful mint, so if you're not, your mileage would indeed vary a lot.

Here in provincial Ohio, we call Rumplminz and Jaeger a "Screaming Nazi." Its no longer politically correct, however.

I don't like mint and I hate the combination of mint and bitter herbs. First time I've heard of the dead nazi, but I guess the mixture refers to Herman Göring, the "Reichsjägermeister" and the Nazi golden party batch. All in all terrible stuff. We Bavarians rather drink Italian amaro/bitter liquers like Averna or Ramazotti, good on the rocks with a slice of lemon. I tried Jägermeister once the same way, not bad, but amaros are better. Fernet-Branca makes a version with mint, Fernet-Branca menta, sounds it tastes like the dead nazi. Don't need to try it.

Not a "spirit" but my go-to adult beverage.

One of my favourite rums: "El Ron Prohibido" from Mexico, 12 years solera method. Not spiced but spicy, intensive caramel flavor like Jamaica Rum. Nice bottle too.
