Hacker-Pschorr Dunkel. Not hoppy/bitter but malty. This kind of beers were the original beers in Bavaria until lagers were created. The different Munich Dunkel brands taste similar but I like those bottles.

Holzar (Hoytzah) = woodcutter/lumberjack beer. Very similar to red ale like Kilkenny, from Allgäu/Bavaria.

Two gins of the German brand "Boar" from Black Forest region. The left one is a normal gin with strong herb flavors. The right one is oak barrel aged, less herb flavor but mixed with the oak flavor, smooth and interesting.

The last decade many small gin makers started business in Germany, a new "gin craze". Usually with more different herb flavors than usual London Dry Gin has, because they can use other flavoring methods than the one allowed for London Dry. I guess I tried 30 different German gins the last years, also gins from Canada, Iceland, Japan etc. I have ca. 5 favorites. I usually drink it just on the rocks and let the ice melt a bit, good gins get milky haze from the amount of essential oils. Gin tonic only sometimes.

Beer may well have been the reason humans went from hunter, gatherer to agriculture. Grains stored in containers may have fermented by accident after being rained on and left for a time...and after a few adventurous tastes...city state, civilization, atomic power, night clubs, favorite brew, Justin Bieber.

I've heard of an interesting theory: In ancient times beer was made by women, over millennia. The ongoing contact with the yeast caused a genetic exchange. That's why men love beer as much as women! (exceptions prove the rule)
((if they couldn't malt barley and had other crop they need saliva amylase to crack the starch))

A locally-brewed favorite, currently accompanying a world-class pizza: Thirsty Dog Brewery and Giuseppe's Pizza (family-owned for three generations, now.) Shameless shilling absolutely intended.

Hey please, don't just show your favorite beer etc. Tell us something about the taste, why you like it or stuff. Thanks and cheers!

Hey please, don't just show your favorite beer etc. Tell us something about the taste, why you like it or stuff. Thanks and cheers! Right. I'm fearful of over-posting, when I'm imbibing... Apart from the fun label, the beer itself is very dark, and sweet, and heavy. It has an IBU of 24, so it spits in the face of the snobby IPAs that currently dominate the hipster market. It is very malty, with a chocolate finish, and is therefore also very anti-American-mass-produced-rice-beer. It flies in the face of all that is holy according to the health authorities, because it has to be 125 calories or more per bottle. I love it because its a revolution, a statement, an unabashedly toxic-masculine beer that says, "I'm capable of ripping your leg to shreds, but I'd rather be friends so rub my belly and I'll love you forever." And by this, I mean its stunningly unfashionable, and crude, while being completely lovable.

SOOOO often in the last several years people got on the hoppy hoppy hops wagon, thus overwhelming the sweet malty, bready and subtle tastes, like the Belgian styled, bottle yeast fermented stuff. Lighter carbonated beer like from large American companies have good quality control and you can guzzle them to quench a thirst, but give me the stronger stuff for sipping.

Hacker-Pschorr Kellerbier. Kellerbier (cellar beer) is a fashion here just some years old. It's unfiltered with some yeast and not much hop. Very mild, a bit like wheat beer / Weißbier.

It is indeed! Nice chilli bite on the tongue, but otherwise a remarkably smooth and easy to drink vodka. The pear flavour comes through nicely. It's a touch sweet for my taste (my wife loves it) but I'm going to mix half-and-half with Nemiroff plain vodka which arrived just a few minutes after I posted
